"I, ____, am leaving ILX for a while for one reason or another. When I am officially back, I will say so on this thread."

(a) This is a serious thread. So many times I see where people say that Person X is "taking a break" from ILX, and I had no idea, just thought that person was busy with real life.
(b) I personally am not going anywhere.

These must be extremely narcissistic people, to feel they actually need to announce such a thing.

I'm going to get a glass of water.

I know you guys love me and all that, but I think I need a break from ILX. Sorry guys, I hope I'm not letting you down.

I think it's only polite to tell people, so we're not wondering why someone hasn't shown up.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, fuck Jesus, I thought ILM was above this. I find these kinds of threads the most boring and useless threads of all time and... goddamn, now I'm offended.

This pisses me off so much that I'm boycotting this board for the next two weeks, while I'm on vacation with my family. I'll be back after then... if I'm not too disgusted.

'Cause (Insert Other Message Board Here)'s got a big ol' butt
So I'm leaving you

See ya!

I took a break a week or so ago, and only felt the need to announce it as an apology for some needlessly boorish behavior on my part. I was only "gone" for two days or something, so it wasn't really a big deal. I don't think that makes me "extremely narcissistic", but you may beg to differ.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm back!

Been a long time
Since I left you
Without a strong post to step through,
Think of how many weak threads you slept through,
Time's up, sorry I kept you.

Ken L (Ken L), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey guys, I'm back! FUCK YEAH!

I, [fact checking cuz], am changing my core values for a while. i am renouncing my beloved pop records and will be listening only to foghat, grand funk, UFO and possibly schoolly d from now on. i will also be searching for ways to express my new belief that music sounds better without you. plus, i have decided to become a chick. When and if I am change back, I will say so on this thread.

I, nickn, have decided to eat exclusively at Applebee's until I appeal to the masses. When that happens (or when I get too nauseated) I will return to my brie-eating and latte-swilling ways.

nickn (nickn), Friday, 19 November 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

As I ignore the smarting pain of (hopefully) acute eyestrain to read what I type, blinded by the reflection of my moontan on this little porthole into this pefect virtual world, I struggle to find the right words to express my feelings at this moment. I, who so often prefer to avoid any expression of real feeling, prefering to hide behind jokes or trivia or just plain silence, feel that perhaps baring my soul at this moment to such listeners as you, my new friends, will be the magic bullet to right all previous botched-leavetakings, if not the entire multitude of misplayed momentous emotional moments. Even though I only crashed your party a short while ago, and have done nothing but harangue the few of you so kind as to approach me in my strategically positioned hiding-in-plain site location between the snacks table and the drinks table, so to speak, I feel that I have grown to know each and every one of you as a friend, nay, as a kindred soul. Now that I have said these hard-fought words, it is time for me to go. This is my last post.

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 22 November 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

But don't see anything bad about me, because I still might be reading from time to time, so watch out. I guess THIS is my last post, the prior one being my penultimate post.

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 22 November 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

When you have two, there's bound to be a third, everybody knows that. So this is my last post, the prior one my penultimate ultimate, and the original last one my antepenultimate. Having relieved myself of the desire to say antepenultimate, I go forth to discover, as Dr. Seuss so aptly put it, the places I'll see. Or is it go?

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 22 November 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)
