The thread that's totally and completely on Trim's dick

I've spent the last month listening non-stop to both sides of the Trim Taliban white - Boogeyman, and the one over fire hydrant that's just him methodically and comprehensively merking people.

I've not been as excited about a UK mc since "I luv U". Trim is sooooo good. He's got this really rich, treacly voice, with a kind of lazy fifty cent cadence to it that sounds great with a london accent. He chucks about 50 quotable lines into each track e.g. "I sleep in hooded jim jams".

And he's in Roll Deep, which means Wiley beats.

Does anybody know if he's got any more releases coming up? Or heard him live or on radio?

Share!

I am on his dick even more after his verses on "Choke" and the stuff on the Logan Sama set (link on Martin's blog)!

I'm just waiting for stormin's answer record to arrive in the mail. I'm hoping it really riles trim and he comes back with something even better. Off to martin's blog now...

- i like him
- i like his cute relationship with scratchy, on record at least i spose, cos i never saw no dvd. i imagine scratchy is the only guy that can always make surly trim laugh
- i didnt really like 'they gave him an inch' the one time i heard it
- trimbal? trimble, surely, and even then (679 wonk: "david trimble mightnt be happy..."?)
- i like a SKANKING SKA type track i heard once wot sounded like the specials with him and someone i cant place, does anyone know it? the chorus goes like "yr not hot/ no one in yr crews hot / not a shotter / no one in yr crew shots / not real / no one in yr crew's real / not a killer / who have u killed?" with trim trademark bored dismissive statement style

l-man also has a great trim-esque thing where he sez lots of stupid l-man stuff ("i'm god / you're osiris") and just stops and sighs "...you still wanna bring it to me." and starts all over again

" i like him

They're a great duo, aren't they? I've noticed they're often in proximity on Roll Deep tracks, and the contrast works really well - Scratchy's slightly nerdy rapier neurosis switching to Trim's bleary indifferent menace.

This generally is what is so great about Roll Deep and co, and grime generally. Please no more of the critical Riko Fallacy which produces MCs like Dogzilla; more unusual voices and wit! (nb. I actually do like Riko, I just wish that people would talk more about e.g. his dready vocals and less about how his lyrics encapsulate working class existential dilemma etc. etc.)

Adam OTM about "Choke" - "I got weed in my system/to weed I'm a victim!"

otm re riko but i'll talk about his dready vocals, yeah dready vocals like some scabby old drumnbass mc doing his venture into uk hiphop! fucking mortifying, have we all forgotten red snapper featuring skibadee

hold tight the private caller (mwah), Monday, 26 September 2005 13:21 (twenty years ago)

beg pard it ws mc det, see i almost forgot too

"have we all forgotten red snapper featuring skibadee "

Yes, in the sense of never having heard it.

That Riko/Target tune "Hands Up" is very weak in this sense yeah, but I love "Dead That" with God's Gift - although perhaps more for God's Gift. Flo Dan is better than both of course!

If the album is anything to go by the aforementioned dick has gone well and truly limp and is now collaborating with James Blake.

What with this and the Flowdan album it's weird how it seems to be all the old signifiers of realness doing the weakest shit in 2016. I mean at least Tempa T sounds like he's having fun doing his route one Chase & Status rock bosh shit.
