It's just we've got one in our local charity shop (for whom I help out with the music from time to time) and I figure this might be worth something to someone. It's definitely their signature (I compared it with some pics fo their sigs on the net) and it's in perfect condition - single 2 of Get The Message. Signed in '91 by both Sumner and Marr.

WHat's the going price for this kinda thing? The interweb tells me NOTHING about how much this kinda thing might be worth.

Tenner, I would have thought.

Yeh, I was thinking a £10-£15. I dunno what Electronic's stock is like at the moment.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, not much, but Barney and Johnny's stock independantly would keep this in the 'fair' category.

Agree with the above - also handy that it is about the only really good electronic song.

3underscore (___), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I agree. And if its the second CD single, it'll have the best remix of same.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, sorry, it's the 7".

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, all those have a two on it (it was their second single, after getting away with it.

some nice info here.

So given that it's the only version available of 'that' mix, might be worth more.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, I'll have to go and check to see what version it is then.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's actually signed "Johnney Marr" I think you may be out of luck.

J. J. James (jjjames), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 14:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Funny, I got Johnny's autograph once when he came into our shop!!!

Signed on a simple piece of blank A4, I simply put it in the jacket of an old Smiths 12" and so, making it very versatile to slip in within any Smiths, The The, Electronic record should I want to sell it to someone and get even more for it. Bingo!

also handy that it is about the only really good electronic song.

I strongly disagree.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it's the one I'd choose to play now, rather than "Getting away with it Love My Way its a new road"

The first Electronic album is easily the best New Order record.

Now, That is so wrong it's wrongy wrongy wrong.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 25 November 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I got 99p for an Electronic cassette single. I was a bit disappointed.

Puddin'Head Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 25 November 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post: it's still an absolutely incredible album, though. it's better than republic, and it's better than get ready. (mind: this recording of me farting into a bottle is better than get ready.)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 25 November 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Got republic recently, cheap. Past the first 4 tracks (the singles) it goes very ho and hum. "Get Ready" better?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 25 November 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

When I worked in the used rekkid store, autographed stuff was pretty much 0 value, unless the signer was a/massively famous and b/dead.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 25 November 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

get ready is a travesty. it's fucking horrible. yes, crystal is great, and one or two of the others are decent enough in a new-order-by-numbers way, but it's such a lazy, boring, unimaginative album. 60MPH and rock the shack ... GAAH, i can feel my blood boiling just thinking about those.

republic gets better with every listen, though. i remember when it came out: it was the first new album by NO since i'd got into them (just after technique) and i was *so* disappointed. but then i found myself going back to it more and more. the problem is that texturally it doesn't really sound like new order (i'd love to hear it re-done by the band, ie without stephen hague) but the songs are among the best they ever wrote.

it's not as good as "electronic", though.
