"Wooh! Yeah!" Where can I hear this great lyric?

I'm compiling a (possibly painful) mix of tracks that all use a "wooh! yeah!" vocal sample in the background. I'm thinking of all those late-80s, early nineties piano house or crossover house tunes.

The only one I can think of is a 'club' remix of Venus - the Bananarama cover i think - but i don't know what the remix is called, or who did it...

Even better, is there one original record that this was sampled from? Or were these all re-recorded to avoid licensing problems?

Shurely its time for a wooh! yeah! revival!

2nd or 3rd most famous break ever.

The cover you're thinking of is indeed "Venus" by Don Pablo's Animals. I only know this cos it was about the third record I ever bought.

Also - Tricky Disco by Tricky Disco.

Don Pablo's Animals.

yes, thats the one. And it also started with another famous sample - something like "now you're going to hear something you never heard before" - i don't think the irony needs to be pointed out there...

There was a Danielle Dax tune that used a 'woahhh woahh' and other bits. The CD was "Blast the human flower"

there is 'woo hey' in primal scream's 'loaded' but it's not a sample or is it?

keith m (keithmcl), Friday, 26 November 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That is firmly not the same. Also it's more 'ahh yeah' than 'woo hey', or are we thinking of different bits?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 26 November 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Two diff bits. Ah yeah at the end, woo hey is "we're gonna go deep town woo hey" or thereabouts.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 26 November 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Just what is it that you want to do?

The more montrous the better.

Although, by coincidence, I just went down to the Happy Shopper, and there was some pretty awful rap track on in the background, featuring this very sample going on interminably. Having just endured about 45 seconds of it, its already becoming unbearable.

This level of use must be some sign of quality. I mean, is there a more expressive, all-encompasing phrase in music/speech?
"OK", even "Om" just don't compare.
"Yeah" on its own gets marks for conciseness i spose, but somehow the addition of the "Whoo!" somehow takes it to a different level.

Maybe "Get down!" is another contender.

Dunno about the Don Pablo's Animals, but I've got a 1989ish 7" of the Shocking Blue Venus with the original on one side and a wooh-yeh infested remix on the flip.

kit brash (kit brash), Saturday, 27 November 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston. I think she throws one in there in the beginning or maybe during the break just before she comes in before the last chorus.
