best promotional mix cds

You bought them for $2, they were meant to promote some video game you never played, they're brilliant. I think we have to exclude CDs included with music mags, but CDs included with, say, High Times would be fair game.

I nominate Moving Shadow mix cds 99.1 and 99.2 for Rockstar Games. 99.2 for the Dom & Roland remix of "Terrorist", 99.1 for the darker-than-noir jazz vibe of the first half.

Man do I wish I'd brought these into work with me today.

99.1 is really good yes, it's a nice encapsulation of jungle circa 1999 and that's all you need. "Chaos Edit" by Known Unknown (a Dom & Roland pseudonym I think) which is actually an update of "Drum Trip" is one of my favourite no-nonsense headbanger rave D&B tracks.

nineteen years pass...

Reviving this short thread to ask about You Are Here compilations? I have no idea where I acquired two volumes (#8 and 9) of this, probably record store free box. I don’t think I’ve ever listened before tonight.

Anyone familiar? Was there ever a print component? All I can see on eBay etc. is the CDs. I like their late 90s mix of downtempo and dancey indie electro pop/rock.

This isn't answering your question, but I do want to list some (non-magazine) promo mix CDs I enjoy. All are quite short.

DJ Heaven - Frisky? Girls with Decks (1997). Only 20 mins but it's great esp that version of I Need a Miracle. https://www.discogs.com/release/423467-DJ-Heaven-Frisky-Girls-With-Decks

Phil Chillum – Fantazia '97: The Return Of A Legend (1997) https://www.discogs.com/release/320879-Phil-Chillum-Fantazia-97-The-Return-Of-A-Legend
