didn't like Kiki. the Le Dust Sucker is great though, you should persist.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i think i agree the dust sucker is definately better, just havent got much out of it yet.

glenny g2003 (glenny g2003), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

kiki.

lds is phenomenal.

Awesome Welles (nordicskilla), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I admit I haven't given Kiki much of a chance.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

every track on LDS is a club "banger"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

What did Ronan think of the best dance/ electronic albums of 2004 list in the Hot Press Annual.

I browsed this in the newsagents on Friday.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved the Kiki album and tried, in vain, to generate some enthusiasm for it here.

stevo (stevo), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

We have it in work, maybe I will re-listen.

and Martian I didn't even look, out of fear!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the Kiki album! I think he doesn't realize how good of a pop songwriter he is, "The End Of The World" and "So Easy to Forget" are excellent.

I've really tried to like that Le Dust Sucker album, since so many people I know love it, but I can't seem to get into it at all.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe Le Dust Sucker's not bigger, he makes such amazing HITS. maybe in time he will be.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Le Dust Sucker kills. No fair the comparison.

Matt Boch (Matt Boch), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Was the LDS album ever released on CD?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 16 January 2005 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

He should go into production for some band or singer - his off-kilter grooves would work fantastically with the write songwriter and singer.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I think he could produce a rock band really well! Imagine those huge droning grooves!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah that's what I was thinking - one of the reasons I like "Mr Ingum" is that it sounds like a rock band trying to approximate the effect of the Buffalo Bunch remix of "We Don't Care" (I'm still trying to track down the ones you recommended Ronan. I may have to buy the album while I'm over in Europe)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

a friend of mine calls le dust sucker the daft punk substitute for this year

it's tricky (disco stu), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

my handle for him is "Mylo with a personality"

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

the only thing I don't like about LDS: it's so fucking hard to decide which tracks to play out when you're DJing! I played "Fancy Ball" for ages, but on Thursday "Old Shirt" went down amazingly well.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

MEAN BOY

"old shirt" is great too.

it's tricky (disco stu), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

What's "MEAN GIRL" the b-side to the Mean Boy single like?

We have it at work but I haven't had a chance to hear it yet.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't know! is that the single with the dominik eulberg remix?

it's tricky (disco stu), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

no it just has A-SIDE-MEAN BOY, B-SIDE-MEAN GIRL!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

well i'm sure it's good. i like how the kompakt blurb calls the le dust sucker lp "heavy disco". it's what the world needs more of really.

it's tricky (disco stu), Sunday, 16 January 2005 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

MEAN BOY YES

Awesome Welles (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 January 2005 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the kiki just seems a little short of ideas really, with the same sounds repeated all over it, which isnt really bad but the sounds arent great.

i like the first two tracks though.

glenny g2003 (glenny g2003), Monday, 17 January 2005 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

nine months pass...
I've really tried to like that Le Dust Sucker album, since so many people I know love it, but I can't seem to get into it at all.

Ok, I've thinked I finally warmed up to a bunch of the tracks in a big way (especially "Mean Boy".) I don't know what took me so long!

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 13 November 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

I'm listening to "Old Shirt" now and I'm trying to understand why a track this heavy didn't hit me the first few times.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 13 November 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

Definetly worth tracking down "Mean Girl" then - fantastic track, better than "Mean Boy" - and I love MB as well.
