Quote From an Adam interview:
"There was a song called 'Just Sometimes' that I wanted to re-name 'Song of Laughter & Forgetting' which has all the instruments and melodies going round in cycles, a song called 'Neon Lights Glow' which is ten minutes long, has a string section on it and is a cross between 'Neon Lights' by Kraftwerk, 'Rumble' by Duane Eddy and 'Signed DC' by Love, and 'Ennio II' which has an Ennio Morricone feel but is really just a strange little instrumental. None of these tracks are available as far as I know, but what do I know?"
"Neon Lights IS the most expensive single recording we did (around £18000 (approx $32000)) - it has an amazing string arrangement (put together by adam & the string quartet), and is around the length of Duress"

The Boos overview would have to rival my 4 CDR montrosity if it wanted to get every B-side..

I came across a collection called “A Boo-Sides Collection” and is mind blowing, IMO. Even though it is at 320, I hope a lot of those songs make it onto the CD so I can have an original copy. I think I own 26 singles so no matter what they do, two discs is not even close to enough.
Yeah, I’m a bit of a nut for the Boo Radleys. I figure one band to go overboard with is OK.

I wonder if it's the set that I made years back. I offered it around to a number of people.

You got it -- I'm the one regular here from OC (there are a couple of other occasional posters) but there's a good chunk of us up in LA as well. Search out the 'Los Angeles' threads, we're always looking to find good folks!
That second disc for me would be the treat, as I have no real radio sessions from them, and I'd be interested in a swap. For the life of me I can't find the tracklisting of my own set, but in brief -- first three discs B-sides, rarities, oddities; fourth disc, remixes.

I’m a regular poster at Obner, which use to be CMJ, and discovered this board around December. Still feeling my way around and it crashed for a while, didn’t it?
In the 90’s I went overboard and collected singles. So I have an insane collection of a bunch of British bands. We might be able to exchange some goodies.
I think I have just about everything concerning the Boo Radleys, 26 singles will do that for you. Boo-Sides One filled in the last bit, I think? I did just discover “Black Session” France November 17, 1998 and will get that soon. I need to clear some hard drive space but with “Kingsize” live, my life is just about complete.

Aside from I dunno Cocteau Twins , MBV,Wolfhounds,McCarthy and a handful of punk bands (it all gets a bit hazy- am I in the same time frame?), Swervedriver were truly great and I held them up alongside the best of all the US stuff of the same era.
I discovered them late too, thanks mostly to our lazy music press (ad my lazy self) who from recollection very wrongly had them in with the 'shoooooogazing set'
SD truly rocked ,were innovative and had a consistnt ear for a tune.
Does anybody recommend or care to comment on the ToshacK Highway stuff?
What are the rest of the band doing? I love the way the guitars intertwine and a great engine room too. Any chance of a reunion?

what were you trying to do / achieve in swervedriver?
I think we were pitching to land somewhere betweenThe Jimi Hendrix Experience's Electric Ladyland andSonic Youth's Daydream Nation. We also liked theStooges and Husker Du.
what do you understand by the term shoegazing?
I think the term was derogatory really, so nobodyembraced it. Andy Ross who coined the term "shoegazer"later married Swervedriver's bass-player'sex-girlfriend, so I suppose you could say that hemarried into the shoegazer clan.
were swervedriver shoegazers? (why / why not?)(feedback to the future is subtitled a compilation ofeleven shoegazing songs)
The shoegazer bands had floppy fringes and worechelsea boots; we had dreadlocks and wore baseballboots. We were more like grungegazers I suppose...withan umlaut on the 'a'.
do you feel any connection and/or kinship with the other bands featured on the compilation? (why / why not?)
Yeah, with some I guess. I mean, I've been to Russellfrom Moose's house for Sunday lunch. We hung out withboth Slowdive and Silverfish. The way I see it there never really was a "shoegazescene". There were a lot of bands running aroundLondon back around 1990-91 - some of whom were latercalled shoegazers and many that weren't - and I guesseveryone rehearsed at the same places and drank at thesame places so there was a community and probably afriendly rivalry. I have to say though I've never even heard of BlindMr Jones and have no idea who they are or what they'redoing opening this album
why does now seem the right time for a shoegazing compilation?
It seems that there are a lot of younger bands, particularly in the US, citing Swervedriver, Ride,MBV, Slowdive etc as influences so this music has hadlongevity I guess. There isn't one band in the USciting the Manic Street Preachers as an influence.
unusually, swervedriver seemed particularlyenamoured with americana (highways, ford mustangs etc)- can you explain?
The American cars thing probably came from Marc Bolanwho in turn was getting it from Chuck Berry songs andthat classic 1955 rock'n' roll thing. Also I wantedpeople to be listening to Swervedriver the way we'dlistened to the MC5, driving at high speed downcountry lanes...
