Where do you buy music (on cds, vinyl, etc) online?

Really. I've had different levels of success in procuring all of the great music I read about on ILM and assorted music elitist channels in local record stores. Well, little to no luck. I've bought things online at stores like Forced Exposure or Turntablelab, with occasional forays to more generic venues like Amazon or cheap-cds. I've even ordered from the occasional European stores and been raked over the hot coals on conversion rates and shipping (I'm in the US). Where do you order from? (If you even have to order music, you demo-receiving music writers. grumble.)

it really depends on what you're buying. for deleted stuff, ebay or
gemm.com are best.

Well, it's not a secret or anything, but I can vouch that Insound really is good.

Besides the others listed, I often use musicstack.com. Just the other day I got the Life Without Buildings - Love Trinity Aussie cd single for 6 Australian dollars = cheap :).

Not being in San Francisco, I order from Aquarius all the time. They pretty great.

Dustygroove and Aquarius take care of most of my new/weird needs. For used major-label discs, Amazon's kinda hot too.

i used to buy a lot from http://www.opalmusic.com ... their service is exemplary and their delivery lightning-fast, but last year they didn't seem to be stocking a lot of what i was after.

that said, i've got a stack of stuff to order once i get paid (tick ... tick ... tick) and i was going to go there first.

opal seems to have quietly gone out of business... their website hasn't been updated in well over six months..

Opal were good, sorry to hear they've croaked. I've always found Action Records very good - if you phone before 5pm they'll get stuff out to you the next day. Cheap too.
