Roy Etzel vs. Herb Alpert

AKA. refighting World War 2 with trumpets round one: USA vs. Germany.

For me, Herb wins because he was more prolific, his best tunes are really great (Tijuana Taxi, Spanish Flea etc, though these were all recorded with the Tijuana Brass) and he had a huge role in promoting other cool acts such as the Carpenters and Sergio Mendes. However comparing his solo stylings with Roy Etzel's schmaltz milestone "Il Silenzio", who is the best trumpeter? Opinions from anyone who can actually play a brass intrument are especially welcome.

i can't say much, but i would add the following: you don't have a proper garage sale if there's not a copy of the whip cream album for sale. one might even say that it's bad luck.

There's a record store in Seattle with a copy of Whipped Cream SIGNED BY THE MODEL!
