Because for whatever reason you don't want to post to the other thread. For instance, maybe you don't want to revive the thread or see it at the top of new questions, but you want to say something about it. Pasting a link to the thread in question will presumably allow people reading the original thread to come here and see your comment, if you so desire.

It's been asked before but why not once more: PROLAPSE: Classic or Dud? : Classic or dud?

xpost:
You see, I wanted to say that I knew GG Allin's drummer Dino a little bit because he played in a band with a guy I played in a band with and - aside from his penchant for drumming while disrobed, he seemed a little bit weird, but not scary weird. Some sort of neurotic squeamishness kept me from posting to the relevant thread for fear of secondary or tertiary soiling, however virtual it might have been.

It seems to me that those threads where everyone gets all hot under the collar compiling huge lists of "best albums of the decade" etc are a big waste of time. What's the point?

ourwulliewallpaper, Friday, 21 January 2005 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

here here, i'd rather here about the future best ofs

i would like to say everyone's year end lists to ( I don't want to contribute) are so far off base it's ridiculous. Annie. Arcade Fire. The Streets?!?!?!
ugh...I'm just not sure what's happening anymore

owen reading, Friday, 21 January 2005 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, 99% of year end listings utterly suck. Doesn't anyone get there mind blown by something that isn't being continually crammed down our throats by marketing and discussed on the internet anymore? The Streets album definetely tops my list though - of the most embarrassing things I heard all year.

everything, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

What's your top ten owen? you've already said what you don't like, so tell us what you do like. What would be on base?

Lingbertt, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:17 (twenty-one years ago)

my head almost exploded when the arcade fire was #11 of stylus' top 50 of 2000-2004.

Juan, the Magic Don (jingleberries), Friday, 21 January 2005 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

owen reading, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, it has to be animal collective. i really DID love that album.

owen reading, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:26 (twenty-one years ago)

a lot of those albums were on other people's top ten lists though. it doesn't seem like your list is all that different.

And I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I just don't see why you're so flabbergasted by everyone else's lists.

Lingbertt, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

9: the walken

Lingbertt, Friday, 21 January 2005 06:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ok. SO JUST OVER A HALF my albums were on others...bjork, M.I.A, dungen, walkmen, dungen and animal collective, the other four, that's 40%!!! were totally ignored
i dunno, to me that seems a lot when everyone is huffing and puffing about annie, the streets, arcade fire,...etc

I am terrified to click and see what has brought Mickey Avalon back onto the New Answers page.

I am still terrified to contribute any Mickee 4v4l0n threads, believing hitting "Submit" will result in an immediate bodywide breakout of cold sores, fever blisters and bobos and other horrible excrescences I don't know the name of.

seven months pass...

All "American Pie" threads have ground to a halt.

Wrong again. I guess the Billy Joel/Don Maclean battle rages on.
