Awhile back I came on here and got some great responses from people interested in writing for http://www.staticmultimedia.com. These people have done really great work in a short span of time for the site, but we still have a gaping hole in show coverage for New York, Los Angeles (maybe even San Francisco), and London.

If anyone lives in or very near these locales and you'd like to write for a site that can get albums to you, get you into shows, and, if interested, interviews with artists, then send me an e-mail with your background, basic info (name, city, etc) and what sort of music you're most into to: [email protected].

We have a ton of people from Chicago, so unfortunately we're not looking too hard for more, but if you are from Chicago and are still interested, please reply as well. If you're that good, I wouldn't have any problem adding another Chicagoan to the staff.

Other cities we are interested in having writers from are: New Orleans, Dallas/Austin/Houston, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Boston, Atlanta, and others...Thanks!

What's the pay?

Paul Eater (eater), Friday, 21 January 2005 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Free discs, free shows, possibly interviews, and you get to keep ownership of your work.

Trust me, I wish I was getting paid, too. Once the advertising kicks in, that will happen. I've been with the sight since near inception, too. We're really close to getting to that point.

I think I wrote for the site once before you were there!

I'd consider it for LA if I was actually up there on a regular basis (but who knows, I might be soon). Spencer should do it since he's a brilliant critic of the live show dynamic (ie, most live shows are dull and rote affairs, therefore only something REALLY good deserves praise).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 January 2005 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, if you move to LA, keep my e-mail if you're still interested.

Brett Hickman (Bhickman), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, I sorta already am in the area (I live in Orange County, see). But you need someone who actually lives there and can get to shows more readily.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd consider it, but I feel like I'm already stretched thin. I'll try to think about other likely candidates.

Also Brett, your site is ok, but you need a new or revised logo and the side image pattern needs to go.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer--If it were solely my site, I would say "I'll take that into consideration". Alas, I just handle the writers and content for the Music side of the site, not the design. But if you know of anyone, send them my way. I appreciate the offer.

Ned - Yeah, if you can't easiily get to shows, that's a minus for live coverage, but if you're still interested in writing album reviews, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail.

Would you consider anal-retentive UK expats living in San Francisco?

Who have great taste?

.ada.m. (nordicskilla), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

xxpost -- We spoke about it before -- as I'm used to review pay thanks to my AMG work I'll have to keep it in mind more than leap at the chance, speaking honestly. But shoot me an e-mail anyway.

As for Adamrl, he's a horrible smelly punk. No wait, I meant, "perfect for the job."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Adam - Sure thing.

Ned - xxpost? Was that to me? I understand about the pay issue. Trust me, if I had been paid beforehand, I doubt I would work for free. The only exception being that I am not the strictest (nor best) editor and let the writer write the way they wish, instead of forcing them into a certain mindset (like a lot of other music sites).

Brett Hickman (Bhickman), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Was that to me?

Yes'm. The AMG actually never tell me what to write or anything; while I generally have evolved a certain style and approach for my reviews there it's something that's still recognizably mine. And combined with here and Freaky Trigger and Loose Lips Sink Ships and other spots I sorta feel I have the space to ramble on when the impulse hits, I have to admit! Not trying to denigrate what you're doing, just calling it like I see it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 January 2005 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

No biggie. I'm not chasing ya down the street yelling "Write for me!!" or anything.

Brett Hickman (Bhickman), Friday, 21 January 2005 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

You should!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 21 January 2005 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Brett - I just sent you some info. I don't know any of these guys personally, but I like to think I could get somebody here to vouch for me as a daily poster here on ILMMMMMMMMMMMM.
