Just a thought.

polls = always a point, but can we come up with a good reason to have it? 50th anniversary of "Rock Around the Clock" going to #1?

I'd vote.

The (relatively) concurrent UK #1 poll is as good a reason as I think we'll ever have.

I mean, it's not like the US cares enough about chart history to make a big deal about the 1000th #1. For all I know, it already happened, or might not happen for another fourty years.

Yeah, I'd vote. It might then be interesting to compare positions between the two polls. Only slight worry is that now people have seen the UK poll, they might be tempted to vote "tactically" (ugh). The strength of the UK poll was that no-one (except Mystic Alba) really had much of an idea as to what would do well.

I'm not sure if tactical voting would be that big an issue. There's a fairly significant disparity between US #1's and UK #1's.

Also, weren't most of the ballots in the UK poll submitted by people in the UK?

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 24 January 2005 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the idea, as a counterpoint to the UK one. In fact, I've already made my list!

Everyone knows everyone loves 'Ghost Town' and 'Good Vibrations' - I'm not so mystic! Anyway - I fucked up by throwing 'Toxic' in the mix.

I'd be down (shockah!)
