I'm wanting something new. I've been digging in the archives for the past month+ so I want some exciting new sounds. I could tell you what I have from this year, but I want to hear the one album from this year that you all think I should buy. Thank you for your contributions.

I have two suggestions:

New Order - Waiting For The Sirens' Call
MIA - Arular

black mountain

So you do give the New Order a vote of approval Dan? That makes me happy to see, as it seems many are disappointed.

matt2 (matt2), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I completely adore the new New Order album. The worst song on it is merely good as opposed to great, fantastic or astounding. Keep in mind, though, that this is coming from someone who really rates Movement, Technique and Get Ready over all of the other New Order albums, so I don't know if I look for the same thing in NO as other fans.

"Krafty", "I Told You So", "Jetstream" and "Guilt Is A Useless Emotion" alone are worth the price of the album.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say the Pet Shop Boys Back To Mine, but obviously there's nothing on it from 2005, so:

Boubacar Traore - Kongo Magni.

But if desert blues from Mali isn't your thing, then:

Antony & The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now.

Out of everything listed, I second Mary Timony's Ex Hex as I'm planning to buy it this Friday.

That's not cocaine! It's Ian Riese-Moraine! (Eastern Mantra), Tuesday, 10 May 2005 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

If you all care, I ended up getting the new Spoon. I was only going to get one album (as the thread title suggested), but then I couldn't pass up the Cure re-issues either. So I got the Faith re-issue as well. A very good day.
