This thread kind of touches on it, but not with coherence or thoroughness.
So, I want folks to add to this here list of the hottest pop music made for children (often, but not exclusively for TV). I provided some links too, where I could find them.

- Spiderman (Electric Company version)
- Spiderman (Animated Series Theme)
- Electric Company (theme song)
- Vialegre! (theme song)
- Pinball Song (Sesame Street)
- Zoom (theme song)
- Fat Albert (theme song)
- Kroft Supershow 76
- Batman (theme song)
- George of the Jungle
- Underdog (theme song)
- Hong Kong Fooey (theme song)
- Verb! That's What's Happening! (SHR)
- Rufus Xavier Sarsparilla (SHR)
- Figure Eight (SHR)
- Upside Down (Bruce Haack)
- Oompa Loompa Song (WillieWonka)
- The Rainbow Connection (Muppet Movie)

Note: there are many songs that did not make this list because they do not still rock (like Bannana Splits, GetYourAdverbsHere, etc) so please be considerate when adding tracks...

Wasn't there a pop punk compilation on Fat Wreck devoted to nothing but covers of cartoon themes?

Moby does Verb! and Sublime did Hong Kong Phooey. But these are not as jazzy as the originals.

there's this italo electro-ish record from the early '80s my friend played me that begins with kids chanting "something something with an ESS chico chiiiico something something" and then the rest of the song is this wicked call-and-response thing, with some dance instructions thrown in ie "palms clappin', fingers snappin'!..." i wish i could remember its name or who did it, it's wonderful.
