What is that band whose name temporarily escapes me?

You will know them, but I can't think of their name, or indeed any of their songs. All I remember is that people were saying at the time (around 2001) that they were going to be the next Oasis; their style was bluesy indie indie bluesy; highly proficient players, all of the members, and they had the reputation of being a band's band; they had a low image; the singer was young (a prodigy?). They may still be going.
