"South Bound Suarez" is the best song ever.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

it was friday afternoon, and I wasn't drunk, but i got:
veda hille - return of the kildeer
the 5th dimension - up, up and away, the definitive collection
joe jackson - blaze of glory
joe jackson - i'm the man

derrick (derrick), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i used doggystyle as an argument tonite as in how west coast rap will be always better than east coast rap

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

dude i almost bought a fifth dminsion record tonight. i couldn't get california soul outta my head. unfortunately they didn't have any 5-d on LP.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

that's an argument i'd side with you on, friend

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

it actually started off with being a doors vs. velvets argument and then went off into wild tangents

im coming round to liking the doors now, i like the pagan buzz aboot them

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, Page's solo is one his great ones, but it's also so typically Page -- the big harmonic turnaround basically cops this little bit that he always slipped into his "Dazed and Confused" solo at some point, and he's typically Pageianly lethargic beatwise after that initial note-spray ... but he wouldn't be James Patrick Page if he didn't play that way, the crazy fucker. But yeah, "South Bound Suarez" REALLY makes me wish ol' Bonzo didn't down those 40 shots..

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

its no 'animal' tho

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:42 (twenty-one years ago)

bad news, mates: spilled a little beer on my table. gotta wipe that shit up.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

why am I telling you this?

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I dread to think how much I'd spend... how long I'd spend in Ameoba. I've seen pictures.

why am I telling you this?

Still drunk?

fandango (fandango), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so glad I chose to drink at home tomight like a loser. Much cheaper. No temptation to buy things.

ReNTBAPA: Resolute Not To Be A Prick Anymore (Unfortunate Prankster), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

it's the little shit that gets you at Amoeba. it adds up pretty quickly.

oh andyes

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

so how big is this fabled amoeba?

just out of interest, like? yer always gabbering bout it

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh how I love thee Amoeba and did some replacement of MP3’s, also got on Friday June 3:

Autolux – Future Perfect
The Walkmen – Bows + Arrows
Kings Of Convenience – Riot On An Empty Street
PJ Harvey – Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea
The Fiery Furnaces – Blueberry Boat
Roxy Music – Avalon (Remastered)

BeeOK (boo radley), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the Doors totally rule. I was sitting in my local last Saturday and they had the radio tuned to the classic rock station -- the classic rock station did NOT have the traditional "Top 500 Songs of All Time" weekend thing going on, for some strange reason; but what they DID have was, BLOCK PARTY WEEKEND in full effect.

"L.A. Woman" sounded just as amazing as it always does. What a thoroughbred of a tune. What a weird band, first and last albums being the best out of 7. Who else can claim that kinda fucked-up career tragectory?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, has Amoeba got some Too Pure stuff

?

thats my buzz right now

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:50 (twenty-one years ago)

it's the little shit that gets you at Amoeba. it adds up pretty quickly.

So true as I never get out of there without spending at least $100 and a good two plus hours.

BeeOK (boo radley), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Amoeba has everything, therefore the danger

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

hey stormy, u rule! i like the way u always stick up 4 classic rock...u like budgie too...man i hated the doors always...throughout my life..it was like i hate everything the doors stand for but fuckit....u have 2 be shaken out of yer complacency every so often...i think either peace forg or love street (so romantic!) are my fave tunes now

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I posted some pictures before see:

Most Impressive Record Store?

BeeOK (boo radley), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:53 (twenty-one years ago)

and Pyromania of course a classic. I've actually been on a massive Lep kick recently for some strange reason. After playing it loud every weekend, I've pretty much worn out this copy of On Through the Night that I bought a month or so ago for a buck. The copy of Come on Over that I bought on half.com for .75 just arrived on Thursday ... haven't had a chance to listen yet...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm convinced that "Oh, look what you’ve done to this rock ’n’ roll clown/Oh oh, look what you’ve done" part is one of the catchiest bits in any song ever.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:58 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post, oh thanks, Popli! but um, I feel weird even sayin thanks cause this is just music that quite frankly I've been in love with my whole life. I mean, I can noise out with the best of them, the Dead C, Sonic Youth and Royal Trux are three of my all time faves, I hate George Bush, the whole nine yards ... but the fact of the matter is, most of the so-called classic-rock bands basically could just play their asses off ! and hold a groove. Good rhythm sections, decent guitar players, that's all I ask! the Doors get a bad rap, man. they were pretty ok. dudes need to cut them some slack.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 06:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Marilyn McCoo is such a great singer.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Her voice is, like, perfect.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:06 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously 'Blackout of Gretely' is the greatest song ever. when is from 1966 or some shit? that riff~!!!!!

sorry, dont know that singer, but gimme a rec, im in the prime 4 listening 4 tunes rite now

u got a blog, stormy?

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:09 (twenty-one years ago)

She was in the Fifth Dimension. Sings lead on "Last Night, I Didn't Get to Sleep at All" and "Wedding Bell Blues" and stuff.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

fatal flaw in his charachter, agreed

Popli Kid, Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

whoah...mcoo was in 5th dimension? i never knew. i am idiot. she had a big hit solo, no?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know! She was the host of Solid Gold for a while.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:15 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, no I don't really have a blog .. tried to start one, got too lazy. I sort of knew that would happen. But I gave it the ol' college try anyway. Thing is, I'm totally not into writing about music as much as just championing my faves. There a bunch of not-dead links to some cool MP3s on my not-finished blog. Click on my username and there's a link...

and hey, Gear!

I'm convinced that "Oh, look what you’ve done to this rock ’n’ roll clown/Oh oh, look what you’ve done" part is one of the catchiest bits in any song ever.

totally OTM, as we say..

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:15 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubbr, ill be in yr end next mnth, fancy a FAP?

Michael B, Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

o yes. o yes. what you doing here?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm actually rocking out to Alice's Love it to Death right now -- funny thing is, as much as I dig the Doors, the Doors-aping parts of this album are my LEAST FAVORITE parts! I just want it to be all "Caught in a Dream" and "Long Way to Go" and "Is It My Body" and so on.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

mullygrubber@drunkensydneygmail michael. we get the kitster and moley too, ja?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Saturday, 4 June 2005 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

"Carouselambra" alone is worth the price of ITTOD admission.

Dr. Gene Scott (shinybeast), Saturday, 4 June 2005 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I tried to get my friend into Doggystyle last night by downloading "Who Am I (What's My Name)" for him, but he much prefered Dre's "Let Me Ride" which I also tried him out with. Me? I'm torn over which is better.

Nick H (Nick H), Saturday, 4 June 2005 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

mully, u get my email?

Michael B, Saturday, 4 June 2005 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)
