PARABLE OF ARABLE LAND

JW (and likely Ian John50n) (orion), Saturday, 4 June 2005 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree. Godz # 2.

"Interstellar Overdrive" as I've only ever heard it and "Sing This All Together." But if someone wanted to YSI "Parable of Arable Land" I'd be their friend.

I would have gone with Red Krayola if you said Hurricane Fighter Plane but I guess I have to pick Floyd too. I can't say I remember what that Godz sounds like though.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Sunday, 5 June 2005 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

this chad mitchell trio rekkerd i'm listening to is kicking my ass right now. "four strong winds" is amazing. "ain't no more cane on this brazos" kicks major ass. their reworking of the twelve days of christmas was inspired by SS Major General Kurt "Panzer" Meyer! so hardcore.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 5 June 2005 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I would go with The Red krayola track although It's nowhere hear as good as "Pink stainless tail"

"Interstellar overdrive" rulz this list, but CvB's version pwnz the floyd's.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 5 June 2005 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, Tim U rule. I'd go with Pink Floyd obv OTM of course claro que see. But if you would have said "In Another Land" you might have given ME pause. For about a second or so.

Sort of a battle of instrumental freakout tracks, though, of course, the Godz thing has a song suddenly emerge half way through. (Sing along, Clyde: "The dog is dead now.")

BTW, Jennifer Gentle do this on their new Sub Pop album: have one instrumental freakout track. It's really good.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 5 June 2005 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, instrumental freak-out tracks from the classic psych era by otherwise vocally-implemented groups? Jimi's "Third Stone From the Sun" should be in the mix. the Airplane's "Bear Melt". "East/West"...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 5 June 2005 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but not psych instrumentals or jams so much as true wigouts/freakouts.
