i really enjoy it. i'm still working on a longer explanation for my blog, but i'm pleasantly surprised by this one. certainly not the "return to form" some have claimed it to be, but nowhere near as horrid as others would lead you to believe. "Let There Be Love" is a fantastic Oasis tune, about the only one on the album that would hang with the '94-'97 peak stuff. i'm also enjoying "Mucky Fingers" more than i expected to. the best sign? the fantastic b-sides are finally back.

They're playing here (NYC) in under a month at Madison Square Garden....begging the question: who gives enough of a damn about them in the States anymore that they should be playing such a big room? Seriously, none of their albums since What's the Stor?... have made the slightest impact here, and that was full on DECADE ago.

i'm also curious to know where that song comes from. are you maybe confusing it with the "Won't Let You Down" b-side from the "Lyla" single?

i am still astounded that they sold out MSG, i always thought that the American public dumped and promptly forgot about them with the pop explosion of 1999.

i listen to it and it gets better n beter so i'll keep listening - simply - nothing crap or annoying but nothing as exciting as "wonderwall" or "shakermaker".it sounds like a first album by a band yet to discover their sound

They still hold a nice place in my heart from the summer of britpop way back when. I really like the new record, by far my fav since What's the Story. I always thought they had it in them if they would stop being so lazy with the songwriting.

That would be what they used to call the Felt Forum back in the day (I saw the Fixx and General Public play there), then they changed its name to the Paramount Theatre (named after Paramount Chicken) at Madison Square Garden

I'm pretty sure they're playin' the big room, though, no?

I always find Oasis albums perfectly acceptable even if I never listen to them after the initial two weeks of owning it. Certain albums that get praise are no where near as good as some would have you believe and the ones that get slagged off are not as bad as they would have you believe. Just depends what your expectations are and I'm sure this new one is no different. Lyla is dull but a couple of tracks I heard on the radio were ok. Not going to buy it though. To be honest I'd be perfectly happy if they never made another album but every 2 or 3 years they just came out to do the press for one, the interviews being more entertaining than any music they make.

Oasis isn't showing to be sold out at MSG either. My guess is they had the Theater At Madison Square Garden (which maybe seats a couple thousand) originally booked, then moved up after the sellout.
