Search and Destroy: The Archies

Has anyone heard the original Archies albums? I'm wondering how much filler is on them, whether it's best to just get some CD greatest hits comp instead, etc. There are like six albums or so.

I have "Everything's Archie" which aside from having "Sugar Sugar" on it is remarkably consistent throughout. I think this is also the one recommended by that delightful Feral House book on bubblegum music. I haven't heard the other albums but I consider this one to be their essential statement.

I should have said "AS WELL AS" having "Sugar Sugar". Seriously, check it out.

S: the extended encore medley of "Season of the Witch" "Quick Joey Small" "Mustang Sally" and "MacArthur Park" on Jughead's Got The 10 & 1/2: The Archies Live At Pop's Chocklit Shoppe

D: the circa 73 glam-ripoff reunion LP,The Return of Reggie Moonflake & the Trannie Anteaters produced by Kim Fowley

Cool, thanks. I think the first, self-titled album is a little harder to come by than Everthing's Archie or Jingle Jangle. "Jingle Jangle" is a really good single.

I once got into a heated argument with someone that the best Archies song was not "Sugar Sugar" but in fact "Girls & Boys." I think I won.

"Jingle Jangle" is seriously skanktastic - up there with the jackson 5.

Just to update:

Jingle Jangle LP (3rd album) > Everything's Archie (2nd album) IMO

Which makes me less enthusiastic about getting the 1st album (plus the fact that it's usually a little pricey, I think).

Are any of these available on CD? I fucking love "Sugar Sugar"; not sure I've heard any of their other singles...

S: "Sunshine," "Bang Shang-a-Lang."

Maybe not. No Al Gorgoni, no credibility.
