anyone heard what is bound to a complete and total masterpiece destined to change your life forever and ever, change the rock landscape in 2005, and make rock cooler than it was even in 2004?

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:44 (twenty years ago)

No, my copy of The Affectionate Punch reissue hasn't arrived yet, sorry.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:47 (twenty years ago)

i've heard it, yeah. wow.

N_RQ, Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:50 (twenty years ago)

is it really 'wow'?
i wanna hear it, desperately

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:52 (twenty years ago)

it's just... wow. i can't say how.

N_RQ, Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

You amuse me, sir.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 August 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

okay, but just how wow is it
i really need to know
is it really really wow
or is it wowwowowowowowoww
or just plain 'wowzers dude'
is it like end of the world, kill myself now cos there is just no way that this could ever be matched by anyone type wow
or is it wow this song fucking kills and anyone who disagrees needs to be deaded

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

The only kind of WoW that matters.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:25 (twenty years ago)

it's the kind of wow that leaves you without the power of sight or speech, naked, somewhere in the desert with no clue as to how you got there.

N_RQ, Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
that is brilliant
that really is just, WOW
i was thinking it might be the type of wow that reduces your entire significance down to a pinprick but thats even better
OMG

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

well, somebody wanna YSI???
please?tnx.

eedd, Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

What a musical about-turn for the Glasgow boys! Who would have predicted that they'd come back with a manic hi-NRG dance/pop crossover track which is surely destined to become an anthem at next year's Gay Pride? As with Prince on "If I Was Your Girlfriend," they seem to have speeded up their voices somewhat as they chant assorted insults over a backing track worthy of Stock, Aitken and Waterman at their poppiest - but the real genius moment is the bluegrass banjo which sneaks into the song halfway through. Eleven out of ten!!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

Wow as in 'World of Warcraft'??

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

ysi?

i can't see that video thing in here (werk)

piscesboy, Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

The video thing is not what you think it is.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 11 August 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

I can ysi a live version if anyone's interested?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:02 (twenty years ago)

I just got the whole album

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

I can't open YSI.

http://www.franzferdinand.org/ has a live version.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:05 (twenty years ago)

you guys are totally wrong, i just heard it at last and this is kinda like manic hi-NRG-meets that grime stuff that only bloggers and a few teenagers care about, sort of like a cross between dizzee rascals i love u, lil jons get low, and public image limited's death disco, mixed with a little of kylie's better the devil you know. its got a killer hook, and guitars to die for. plus the lyrics are just so so so so so clever.

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:08 (twenty years ago)

shut up 'ilovefranz'. You wouldn't know 'hi-NRG' if it hit you upside the head in a frenzy.

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:12 (twenty years ago)

here it is. not as much of a wild departure as expected, but decent nonetheless.

beatles fan, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

are you at GAY at the astoria every weekend, month in, month out, i dont think so.
so shut it
you wouldnt know hi nrg if jimmy somerville put a pincer in your rectum

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

that's a quite a propulsive and, dare i say, angular beat there, beatlesfan. but like you said, not really surprising.

willem (willem), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:22 (twenty years ago)

(xpost)

Have you also recently posted on ILM under the pseudonym of "Heterophobe"?

I mean, just because you can't get a shag don't take it out on the rest of us. There's always the Atkins diet.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:24 (twenty years ago)

fuck
the song sounds even better from that mp3
blinding
a total u-turn, indeed
marcell OTMFM (are you talking to me? you shouldnt take this board so serious, although i understand why you do, as you probably havent had a shag in a long while)

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:28 (twenty years ago)

Look 'ilovefranz' I think I of all people know hi-NRG.

Meanwhile you are crashing your assertion of wrongness into a world trade centre of folly. I.E YOU DO NOT KNOW HI NRG.

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

look Lindsey, just cos you are a highly paid, 50 cent loving hollywood actress, that doesnt give you full authority on what is and what isnt hi nrg. how you have decided that i do not know it and you do, i have no idea. sorry if i have upset the balance on the 'who knows more about hi nrg' equilibrium, hopefully the world wont come crashing to its knees, but it would be nice if you didnt empty your dirty bomb into the tube carriage that is becoming this thread.

ilovefranz, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

Please repost, YSI is already blocked!

matulageci (matulageci), Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

ditto.
what up wit dat??

eedd, Thursday, 11 August 2005 11:46 (twenty years ago)

You strike a blow into the heart of the western world of Hi-NRG 'ilovefranz' but we are here to let you know that WE ARE NOT SCARED and we will continue to pedal our brand of Hi-NRG regardless of what you THINK you know about our world.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 11 August 2005 12:06 (twenty years ago)

beggars can't be choosers.

beatles fan, Thursday, 11 August 2005 12:07 (twenty years ago)

Ringo was a hero to most but he never meant shit to me. Straight out tambourinist the sucker was simple and plain, motherfuck him and Wayne Gibson.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 11 August 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

eedd, Thursday, 11 August 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

YSI.... someone, anyone? bueller?

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 11 August 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

I liked Marcello's review because there is a new Scissor Sisters songs heavily featuring a banjo.
