I heard that these guys are amazingly good but somehow got forgotten. Should I investigate?

Investigate if you want. I say Classic just because of the name, plus the music is pretty good.

Voodoo Child, Sunday, 14 August 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

it's been a long time since i've heard them, but i remember them as being early 90s tounge twister, das efx type hip hop and Shaq had a song or few witht them

plain ol' jaxon (jaxon), Sunday, 14 August 2005 22:16 (twenty years ago)

Can we rock? What's up Doc?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 14 August 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Avoid all Shaq-fu. Otherwise, better than one would expect..."Ring The Alarm" is a personal favorite.

John Justen (johnjusten), Monday, 15 August 2005 00:22 (twenty years ago)

They were OK. Search "True Fuschnick," "La Schmoove," and yes, "Ring The Alarm," but don't waste money on the CD unless you can find it for a buck (which you might be able to)

Bad MCs, all 3. Especially Chip-Fu, who was the 'fast' one that rhymed backwards and stuff. makes Tung Twista sound like Swisha House, if you're into that sorta thing. Very wiggedy-wack, IMO.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Monday, 15 August 2005 00:24 (twenty years ago)

seeing as i haven't heard the name Fu-Schnickens since 1992, I declare dud.

pinder (pinder), Monday, 15 August 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

Well, that's a bad reason. I haven't heard the names Los Crudos or Naked Aggression in ten years but they still rule in my book.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Monday, 15 August 2005 01:12 (twenty years ago)

roger otm. never my favourite but the tracks mentioned have some charm.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Monday, 15 August 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

Chip Fu is one of the worst rappers ever.

Dud, but they had a few decent beats.

Ellis, Monday, 15 August 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

Seemed pretty silly after the Wu-Tang clan came out and did the kung-fu thing so much better. That said, the "rock 'n ROLL, rock 'n ROLL" cartoon reference in "True Fu-Schnick" always makes me laugh.

mike a, Monday, 15 August 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

They took a lot of heat for allegedly biting das efx. if you dont have das efx's first album grab it! I also like the pete rock remix of "REAL HIP HOP" in which they state their allegience to said concept over supertrill production.

deej.., Monday, 15 August 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

lords of the underground >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fu-schnickens

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

They took a lot of heat for allegedly biting das efx.

Funny, cuz before I clicked on the thread I was trying to remember what their hit was, and all I could think of was "They Want EFX."

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 15 August 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

Did I really type 'allegedly'? Scratch that.

deej.., Monday, 15 August 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Haha! K9 Posse!

Everything ever>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>K9 Posse.

John Justen (johnjusten), Monday, 15 August 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I dunno - ever heard the Poet T Posse? How about N2Deep? My knowledge of ridiculously terrible hip hop is vast and intimidating even to myself.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 00:14 (twenty years ago)

N2 Deep is classsick!
I almost bought Back 2 the hotel on cassingle, but then decided not to. I regret this desicion to this very day.

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 03:32 (twenty years ago)

hahahahah two mill, i know you're not serious! My buddy N@sa and I actually convinced ourselves it was Vanilla Ice and Pete Nice incognito - this was right after both had been written off to the point of self-imposed obscurity (and pre Dust To Dust / Pete Nice & Daddy Rich jockin' Kurious for cred)

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

four years pass...

I was just riffing on these guys as hip hop my little brother was into, now I'm downloading a greatest hits to find out if it's any good.

Chip Fu = one of my top five fave rappers of all-time. Chip Fu, where are you?

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 01:50 (sixteen years ago)

i can't find an unmixed version of "ring the alarm" anywhere. it was on that skitz "badmeaninggood" mix (long time ago now i guess) and i love it.

max, Wednesday, 2 February 2011 08:16 (fifteen years ago)

i always really wonder why Fu-Schnick isn't looked back more fondly by rap critics because this shit was dope then and dope now.

odd taran wild'n gang killam all (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 2 February 2011 14:27 (fifteen years ago)

Somehow I don't remember La Schmoove, but I love True Fu-Schnick and Ring The Alarm.

Of course the latter has an unimpeachable sample source:

Glorified Lolcat (Dan Peterson), Wednesday, 2 February 2011 15:22 (fifteen years ago)

I love these guys, their albums aren't perfect but they were fun.

I got pulled over speeding to "True FuSchnick" a few years back, wanted to say "YOU WOULD TOO IF U HAF THIS SONG ON"
