find a minute and listen to audio streams of this Polish, Warsaw-based band, The Car Is On Fire, who has released their debut in May. We have a big internet discussion whether they're just a blend imitation of post-punk and indie cliches or they're something else (what?). Tell me, what you think. Thanks
Yeah, I know it's a quote from GYBE.

I recommend checking their new single 'Miniskirt' for beginners, and before posting like 'fuck you' or so, you better give it a fair try -it's worth it. One can wonder how many people will include this album in their 'end of year' lists - possibly not many, since not many sources on the net mention the curiously omitted band at all.

Anyone who smells a conspiracy in promoting a young band from Poland(which doesn't have other chances to get attention) on ILM - should see a doctor as soon as possible...
These guys deserve listening at least; you'll do what you will, but someday remember I told you :))

(there's also something in the synth pads and the chord progression and the bassline that makes me think of Tortoise? maybe? can't quite put my finger on it, and I don't plan to listen to this song enough times to figure it out)

In some way you were right with the influence, The Car Is On Fire latest album 'Ombarrops!' was produced in Chicago, by John McEntire of Tortoise. 2 singles are on myspace and iLike.com if anyone's interested.

I heard 2 of the members from The Car Is On Fire are complete d-bags, like hit on your girlfriend and then throw up in your bathtub style. Also heard that the bassist organized dog fights

i dunno these guys really combine new wave pop melodies w/ les savy fav-inspired hooks imo. totally recommend them to any fans of the classic post-punk sound. i've participated in big internet discussions whether they're just a blend imitation of post-punk and indie cliches or they're something else (what?) namely a classic, band who released one of the strongest postpunk albums in 2005-- full of tight, focused (to the point of bursting) songs, based on powerful melodic hooks.

before posting like 'fuck you' on one of the big internet discussion boards you might want to wonder how many people will include this album in their 'end of year' lists - possibly not many, since not many sources on the net mention the curiously omitted band at all.
