Um, dancing on the dance floor? And what's going on with the "the-er"? Is this line classic or dud?

It's a gloriously stoopid line from an otherwise accomplished, erudit lyricist. I've always heard it, however, as "...thuuuuuUUUUUUUuuuuuuhhh dance floah"

The song is ironic, and the line is intentionally dumb. Obviously he could have found a suitable two syllable word between "the" and "dance floor" if he'd wanted to. But he didn't. The line is classic, the song is ûber-classic, as are all the songs on the first side of this on-the-whole classic album.
