someone posted this track about a year ago asking who it was and didn't have much luck (can't find the original thread either) and so i thought i'd try again. pounding drums, female chanting. i don't think we got a definitive guess as to the language they are singing in either!
anyway heres a link to the track.

what does it begin to segue into at the end?
That seems recognisable to my brain as something recent, and could lead you to an id of the previous track (discogs etc).

impLOG - Holland Tunnel Drive, it was originally from a mixtape/CD that someone had been given....

Wait, isn't that an amazing song that Marcello played on his No Wave show?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

And the flip-side is "On Broadway"

Can You Name This Song?

Sounds a bit Indian, no? In any case, I like it.

When I uploaded it into iTunes, it immediately labelled it "Postpunk," for whatever that's worth.

Mentioned here.

Methinks this was thrown about a while ago.

It's whatever the original song that 3rd Face's "Canto Della Liberta" samples?

Tony Bleach, Wednesday, 28 September 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

It's vaguely like a rocked-up version of "Mehndi/Madhorama Pencha" from the Monsoon Wedding soundtrack. Gotta be Indian, surely?

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I love the Monsoon Wedding soundtrack, I must confess.

one month passes...
It was driving me crackers trying to find this track and figure out who was responsible for it; I'm connecting the dots by linking this post, which mentions this site. Cheers to ILM and WFMU.

zappi (joni), Thursday, 17 November 2005 02:25 (twenty years ago)

ten months pass...
It blew my mind to hear a COVER of this song, on the radio yesterday!! I almost veered right into the lane next to me. Lo and behold, OOIOO are responsible for this re-creation, it's the first track on their new album Taiga. astroblaster gets the prescience award upthread.
