Ian Gordon, Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

No.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

Wait, maybe they did. Yeah okay they did.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

No wait I'm wrong. They didn't. Sorry for any confusion.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

I thought they did.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:24 (twenty years ago)

No, you're thinking of "January" by The Pilots.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

Motorhead did record "Air Of Spades" though, so I can see the confusion.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

Plus "Luton Airport" by The Cars UK, which was Ric Ocasek's desperate attempt to cash-in on the so-called Martinicore movement.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:31 (twenty years ago)

Not to mention "Airport" by Arthur Hailey and his Comets.

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:34 (twenty years ago)

Who later went on to do "Fire In The Airport" under the name The Crazy World of Arthur Haley.

Covered by Electric 6 a fews back, famously.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

No, you're thinking of "January" by The Pilots.

Hm? I think you're thinking of The Pilot_, I think :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:37 (twenty years ago)

You're getting them confused with Drop the Pilot, who had a hit with "Joan Armatrading" back in the 80s.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Yes, it is on their greatest hits album, which I own. It's not as good as the song called Forget About You, though, which sounds like the Grandstand theme tune.

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

YES THEY DID.
awesome power pop.
and i beg to differ but it's far superior to forget about you.
did i just dream this thread?

cake (cake), Wednesday, 28 September 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

it was the CATS UK, who had a hit with "Lutton Airport"

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 29 September 2005 07:38 (twenty years ago)

Quick, somebody run to the toilet and text me dad, he'll know.

Don King of the Mountain (noodle vague), Thursday, 29 September 2005 07:41 (twenty years ago)

But it sounds like Grandstand!

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 29 September 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

YES I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE GRANDSTAND TOM BROWNE USED TO POINT THAT OUT EVERY FRIGGING WEEK ON THE TOP 40 RUNDOWN

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 29 September 2005 08:16 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I was born then.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 29 September 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

Now you've got me depressed.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 29 September 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)
