I think I did buy Underworld 'Dubnobasswithmyheadman' after reading the review in Melody Maker though. I had a vague recollection of seeing the 'Cowgirl' video on MTV once. I figured it might be a chance worth taking.

I think I checked out Victoria Williams (that tribute album) from some press when the whole new-country thing was a buzz (6 months? Was that NME or MM?)

Thats how I discovered Underworld too!
And I ordered an Autechre single from Our Price after reading about it in MM.
I think I discovered most of my early music from MM and Kerrang.
