1. Jens Lekman - this year's Franz Ferdinand, for me - in that, every once in a while, a band or artist comes along that makes you feel like you are a Martian, because everyone raves about it and seems to ignore (or be oblivious to) the OBVIOUS shittiness of it

Sean, I can agree with Illinoise a little bit (but it's still great and his best), but Z? I mean, according to MetaCritic I know I know, but that album is freakin' legendary to me. Probably the only album I've listened to more than 30 times this year, and it only came out in October.

2. Magic Numbers

i think this is rated just about right - lots of people who'd never seen the songs played live, really liked the album, and lots of people who had seen the songs played live, didn't think it was nearly as good as their gigs, but thought it was ok nonetheless. Result: a steady 7.5/10 average.
