heard one of their singles on the radio years ago and really liked it, so i bought their *turning into small* album and all this time later i still dig it a bunch. it "sounds" great. and as far as my bloody stereolab rips go, i have heard few that are better. plus, they are from jersey and they are pals with dalek. but that's it. i was always too chicken to buy anything else. am i missing anything as good as *turning into small*? all their stuff is pretty cheap on ebay. and they have a bunch of other stuff.

i searched for a thread on them and couldn't find one. sorry if this is a dupe.

Turning Into Small is kinda awesome, aye. I downloaded 'Repetitive Monotonous' off Insound (I think) years ago, and it's still rather awesome, though I can't remember what album it's on.

Just had a listen. It reminds me of (Deluxe-era) Lush (no bad thing imo). Plus the Stereolab referece allows me to plug my fave band of last year again:

Le Futur Pompiste

I just love that synth hook in Sunflower!

Check out Straight Blue Line. It collects their early singles and an extra unreleased track or something. It's great.

Yeah, I've got the two albums and the comp, enjoyable. I break them out every so often, and I think I have AMG reviews of them all too...

okay, so it doesn't seem as if there is anything i need to avoid. i might have to get that singles comp. it was a single of theirs that first got me curious about them.

that ending is killer. they can get a good drone going.

Yeah, good 2nd gen shoegaze. I've got all their albums but I can't say they call to me.

i like when they make a racket. sounds good to me. they are good at creating those big droney blurs of sound. and there is something kinda homemade at times that i like. it sounds like diy shoegaze. they really did love stereolab, but that's okay. they made some good jams.

All I have is That Familiar Look To You / Exploded View single. I remember liking the first full length, though. They were on a Parasol label! Is Parasol still a thing?

RIP Steven Doherty... don't know any details but his bandmembers posted tributes to his life.

That's a shame to hear!

aw :( rip

turning into small is a masterpiece imo, i discovered it by following the rabbithole of the featured artists on dalek's 'forever close my eyes' - the man hired a whole-ass shoegaze band as his backing track, and as it turned out an amazing one
