(I like his visual art quite a bit, actually, so I may shell out the cash for the book too)
(and I'm surprised there isn't way more Great Pop Things love around here, at times it reads like ur-ILM)

I just picked up "Skull Orchard Revisited", a book and revised CD of Jon's 1995 album:http://www.bloodshotrecords.com/album/skull-orchard-revisted
Just started listening, the addition of a backing men's choir is... interesting. Give me a couple of spins to get the feel for it.

Just saw Jon and his Skull Orchard band (Jean Cook on violin)do a fun show. Some songs from their new album Here be Monsters, plus a Go-betweens cover, a Joe Strummer one and "Memphis, Egypt" from the Mekons.

Songs sounded good live--old-fashioned punky rock w/ dashes of pop and country and UK folk. They did the Go-Betweens song "Streets of Your Town" live. Langford was busy telling stories and bad jokes between songs. He said with a grin on his face that he was doing the jokes, with violinist Jean Cook as his straight-woman, because comedy is where the money is these days, so they need to work on their stand-up routine...

I've seen some hilarious Mekons/Waco/Langford shows, esp. with Timms as his straight-woman. Last time I saw them Timms was wearing a dress that made her look like, per Langford, an "Albanian flight attendant." Many jokes followed. I've also seen them so drunk/silly it took Timms to take them to task and get them back on track.

Yes, I do recall some Langford and Timms dialogues in the past as well. I see he did some of the bits from the show I saw, a few nights earlier as well--
