Wish she would come back down this way to DC

Sorry. She played another show at the Beacon on Wednesday which was sold out a while back and before that was in Miami.

This post on Brazilian fan blog has a couple of nice photos and a description of the a set from last year in Curitiba, the first show on the current album, which was pretty much what she did last night: http://www.marisadeverdade.com.br/2012/06/02/verdade-uma-ilusao-e-melhor-show-de-marisa-monte/

How is the current album?
― curmudgeon, Saturday, 29 June 2013 17:40 (twelve years ago)
Only listened to it once the night before but, as you can see, it was featured prominently in the show and all the songs from it were really received by the audience who seemed to know every word. I liked them fine, especially "Depois."

Jon Pareles in the NY Times loves her. Artsy videos in background, plus a new song and a mention of the Brazilian protests I see

a new unrecorded song that she wrote in December with her frequent collaborator, Arnaldo Antunes, and her band’s guitarist, Dadi: “Dizem (Quem Me Dera),” “They Say (How I Wish).” It’s a utopian vision of progress and hope with a touch of the late Beatles: “We have the intelligence/To bring an end to violence,” it vowed

Hadn't known that Dadi was in Os Novos Baianos before she said it at the gig. Visuals were fun. For the first few number they were playing behind some kind of sheer net, felt relieved when that was lifted.

Just saw Marisa Monte and her 8 piece band do a 2 hour gig at a 2,000 or so seat theatre last night.
She mixed samba-mpb Bossa songs & pop and pop rock ones while playing guitar or ukulele, doing costume changes, all w/ aid of backing visuals
I enjoyed the more traditional Brazilian ones better

Quite a presentation she did

I saw her at The Beacon several years back. It was fun but I wasn't totally into it for some reason, even though I am in a general a pretty big fan of her recordings.

I was kinda up and down about her the other night depending on the songs. I recall liking her early 2000s recordings a lot.
