Oh dude, I was just playing DJ Kool last week!

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

Right now at this very second, Fatman Scoop, but that in no way is meant to diminish the greatness of DJ Kool.

Dan (YOU GOT A WEAVE) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

I like the live feel of the DJ Kool record better.

A Licky Boom Boom Down (R. J. Greene), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 21:53 (twenty years ago)

The canned cheers on "Be Faithful" don't feel right, is what I was trying to say.

A Licky Boom Boom Down (R. J. Greene), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 22:01 (twenty years ago)

I AIN'T FROM PHILLY

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 06:51 (twenty years ago)

DJ Kool never asked me to wave a relatively low denomination note in the air therefore Fatman Scoop. Also because "Be Faithful" will always be associated with the club scene in "Save the last dance" and the hilarious greatness of that movie combines in a hilariously great way with the hilarious greatness of the Fatman.

"Let me clear my throat" 'cause it hasn't become over-played/played-out like "be faithful" has in the past few years and because "900 number" by 45 King is one of the beats ever made. "Be faithful" still kills it doe, especially when the "flavor of the month" part comes in.

But neither of these tracks is fuckin' with the other main Fatman Scoop/Crooklyn Clan/AV8 joint "the franklinz", which is the pumped up "all about the benjamins" beat with the ALL MY REAL LIVE NIGGAS THROW YA HANDS UP..ALL MY REAL LIVE BITCHES THROW YA HANDS UP etc chants.

Best party record ever as motherfuckers go wild when that gets played, especially alongside "hypnotize" by the dead fat god.

Be Faithful

I love DJ Kool. "I Got Dat Feelin'" just came up in shuffle.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

rev you think 'be faithful' is crap?

deej, Thursday, 21 February 2008 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

Crap is probably an overstatement, but I've never particularly liked it.

The Reverend, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

I very much prefer "Love Like This"

The Reverend, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

"Love Like This" is awesome but doesn't feature ranting about weaves.

HI DERE, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

be faithful is just as classic

deej, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

The problem with it is that the canned cheers just ruin the whole thing.

The Reverend, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

i had a bangra version of it that was even better

deej, Thursday, 21 February 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

Did "Let Me Clear My Throat" break the official record for most shoutouts in one song?

musically, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

seven years pass...

It's weird to me that Let Me Clear My Throat came out in 96, when I was in high school. It's older than that in my head.

Classic, but points kind of subtracted bc it owes so much to the 45 king loop (whereas I at least give 45 king credit for having the idea to create the loop and slow it down like that).

the shit is fuckin' live b

The Reverend, Monday, 12 October 2015 07:33 (ten years ago)

OHHHHHH wait, I just figured it out: I knew the 900 Number loop from the Ed Lover dance, and then I think when I heard Let Me Clear My Throat for the first time, in high school, I must have just thought "Oh, this is the song that the Ed Lover dance loop is from."

Saw Kool do that live last year at a nostalgic go-go & dc hardcore retro gig. Hd previously seen him do it live ages ago. Fun live

curmudgeon, Tuesday, 13 October 2015 16:33 (ten years ago)

sounds like a fun gig
