Adam Green "Jacket Full Of Danger"

Who here is an Adam Green fan? Some of my friends are really into Moldy Peaches and then the first solo record but really hate "Friends", and "Gemstones". I think alot of that comes from the super-slick production. Which is really good for the style that he's working now (classic pop, classic singing, silly yet professional).

Anyways I got the new record "Jacket Full Of Danger" and I like it alot. I think my favorite lines are in the opening song, which is classic Adam Green

Take another baby, tell another lie
when you was gone i balled a passerby
how many drugs does it take to get you out of my mind yeah

He seems to be channeling Tom Jones, Jim Morrison, and Elvis Presley and I love the vocals, especially the yiddish-sounding bits on "Watching Old Movies".

I recall hearing his last album playing in Saturn in Alexanderplatz and just feeling ill at its sound. It's been a while since I've had such a visceral response to an album, and I thought one or two of his tunes from previous albums were bearable. He is truly loved in Germany. Bizarre.

Germany can have him.

I am probably the other Adam Green fan on here/in the Commonwealth, and part of his appeal is how he obviously sets himself up to be obnoxious and repellent to a lot of people. But the songs. The songs! If anything here is as good as "Bible Club" or "Chubby Princess", it'll be a straight 9/10 album.

two years pass...

"Sixes and Sevens"....at first I was like, ugh, this is terrible. But the more i listen to it the more i like it, the more the nuanced stuff sticks out as funny whereas at first glance it comes across as stupid and pedestrian. The last half of the album gets really weird and even has a few old-school MP/AG-style freakouts. The Sticky Ricky stuff is hilarious.
