am trying to get some stuff that sounds like a rock band but is electronics in it too, or just some drum machine rhythms. basically, some stuff that maybe reminds me of the band tv on the radio if anyone can think of anything

the thing im really looking for is this track that sounds like TVOTR's satellite and staring at the sun. i heard some tracks lately from the 80s that i swear sounded just like them but dont know who theyre by

Satelite reminds me a little (but not a lot) of White Elephant by Volcano Suns. (It also reminds me of the Waitresses Bruisiology, so there you go.)

can't reference tv on the radio but can certainly list electronic-sounding post-punk!

Cabaret Voltaire-Nag Nag Nag
Metal Urbain-Everything they ever did
SPK-First few singles
Spizz Energi/Athletico Spizz 80 etc
Chrome
Primitive Calculators
DAF
The Screamers
Nervous Gender

I think there was a thread initially about LA electronic punk that covered some of this stuff.

some of those may be noisier then you like. What about some heavily produced new wave?

Hah. None of these sound like TVotR, though I like a lot of 'em more. Of course, if you really want TVotR, you want Peter Gabriel's solo stuff. Or maybe Wire's Ideal Copy era.
