1) is built off a loop of the hook from johnny hammond's "los conquistadores chocolate"
2) has a snippet of loleatta holloway's famous speech: "no man in the WORLD"
3) it's very bouncy, runs along slightly faster than yr average kerri chandler but a little slower than yr average derrick carter. it would not sound out-of-place at all in one of their sets.
4) i thought it was on a mix by kerri chandler or derrick carter or dj heather, but now i'm not sure because i checked all of my discs and it wasn't there ... maybe it's from a basement jaxx essential mix or something? maybe from a fabric mix?
5) no idea at all how recent it is, except that it's post-98, almost positive it's american, chicago or NY.

― pastrami (pastrami), Thursday, 23 March 2006 08:38 (twenty years ago)
1) it sounds just like that (i'm almost certain that's it)
2) but i don't own any CDs that have that track on them (according to discogs / essential mix archives)
so ... either it's been released under a different name, or this thing is lurking on a CD or DJ mix that isn't on discogs and isn't google-able
any ideas? i have around 2000 discs floating around in my cabinet so i'd appreciate any help.

looking for a track that has a sample of a dude shouting "make your body groove" and kinda mumbling "my my my my my" or something over a tuff, minimal, us garage beat. you can hear it just past half-way in this (amazing) miss fitz set from her website http://missfitz.svenlito.de/miss_fitz_letsmoke_06042007.mp3 . i feel like i have heard it before but just can't place it, any suggestions?

minimal man - make a move
?
― resolved, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
older than that, mid 90s maybe. and definitely us. it's less a shout, more a soulful demand. i'm sure it's a classic that blunt/vahid/pipecock et al will all know immediately.
― r1o natsume, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 17:02 (eighteen years ago)
Nope, it's definitely Minimal Man's Make A Move.
I know because it features on this: http://www.discogs.com/release/177594, which I have.
And yeah it is a nice mix from Miss Fitz.

looking for a track that loops only the guitar sample from "beau mot plage". i have a feeling frankie knuckles is involved somehow, i remember listening to a sample ages ago on juno as part of a beat tools dj pack. has he released anything of the kind, or am i just making this up? it's driving me wild trying to remember

it's... really good.
the dude says he's been after it for 12-14 years, so we can assume it's not more recent than about 1995.

would love to know who did the deep house tune on a mixtape of ltj bukem (a house mix of his that came with a dnb mix in a double-pack) that looped over and over a sampled diva's voice (I think it was jocelyn brown?) saying "gonna work this OUT . . . gonna work . . . gonna work this OUT"- any ideas people?
― Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 00:42 (seventeen years ago)
what's that currently ubiquitous old house track, v percussive, with a sort of garbled or vocodered vocal going "i'm with you....in this soul/i'm with you.....in this funk" etc etc
― Local Garda, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 01:29 (seventeen years ago)
i dont know, elan, though i wish i did-- those my kind of synths.
think of it this way, i heard a song from a mid-80s mix in 2006 from Chris-- was never able to figure out what it was, even though i remembered everything about it. then Bus Station John gave me sweet satisfaction when he played it and allowed a look at the label. the caveat: "You can't post this on your blog, boy." the man abides. still, this is some truly weird disco.
maybe it will happen sometime with this track. i am a trainspotter to the last.

While we're on the subject of track id's, there's a track off a recent Cassy mix with the following sample:
"You left me standing in the cold, I need you in my under ****"
I can't make out the last word. Anyway, it's a great track. Sounds like it's probably a mid 90's US thing but I could be wrong.

god that's weird...I remember selling that record and liking it but my memory of how it sounds has obviously eroded away
― Local Garda, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 11:11 (seventeen years ago)
OK, probably a really easy and obvious one this – and possibly not even deep house – but it’s been stuck in my head for a couple of days.
What’s the track which (I think) goes:
You don’t wanna know, You don’t wanna know. You don’t wanna know, You don’t wanna know why.

Thanks for that! I remember having high expectations for that EP at the time, and being extremely disappointed with it, so I didn’t get it. Obviously a very slow burner! Loving the track now.

any ideas?
― elan, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 18:25 (seventeen years ago)
i have a feeling that this is an extremely obvious ID, it's some sort of prog house stomper from a radioslave set. my early guess was danton eeprom or something from rekids but i couldn't find a matching track. what is it?

Nice one. I think you must be right about the last line of the vocal. Here's the sendspace if anyone would like to shed some light: http://www.sendspace.com/file/33njb5
Actually the whole mix is great, especially when she mixes Martyn into Dettman's rmx of Deetron.

anyone know the track that has male vocal saying "no one can change the way i feel, 'cause my love for you's so real'? played by ame and dixon
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 22 January 2009 13:00 (seventeen years ago)
ok this one should be easy:
very minimal and funky akufen/crakhaus style beat with "house music" sample that sounds like a record being manually started by hand
