Portland here I come

sleeve (sleeve), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:02 (twenty years ago)

Cool. Missed them around here last time because of -- surprise! -- the tour being cancelled halfway through.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:21 (twenty years ago)

Well, given MarkE's "generous" half-off for the sold tickets of the cancelled shows, I'd be cautious about buying a pre-sale ticket, unless you were that dedicated, and willing to burn the money.

Yoo Doo Nut (donut), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:53 (twenty years ago)

He should put the phrase "House Of Blues" in a song.

Zwan (miccio), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:56 (twenty years ago)

I'd also like to know how he'd pronounce "El Corazon."

Zwan (miccio), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:57 (twenty years ago)

Like these shows are going to sell out.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:59 (twenty years ago)

He played at that same venue (El Corazon) when it was called Graceland.. I saw the show -- and so did Morley Timmons, even though we didn't know each other at the time -- anyway, he just came on stage without mentioning the venue name at all.. with minimal lighting and just starting yelling out the lyrics to the first song, and the one after, etc. which were mostly late 80s stuff... and he would continue to yell into the next song.. no breather, no banter, no encore, no acknowledging the audience, just loud bitterness, and charge, and fuck y'all. It was a great show.. not a Top 10 Of My Life show or anything.

Oh yeah, and then there was the grinding goth triplet up front getting into it. WTF.

Yoo Doo Nut (donut), Friday, 24 March 2006 03:01 (twenty years ago)

mark e. smith wuvs texas!

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Friday, 24 March 2006 09:51 (twenty years ago)

Yoo Doo Nut - you have described 90% of Fall gigs.

"Good evening, we are The Fall" is generally as close as you'll get to a chat with the audience.

marinade (marinade), Friday, 24 March 2006 11:47 (twenty years ago)

Think I will have to set a date for May 2.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Friday, 24 March 2006 12:04 (twenty years ago)

House of Blues? House of Blues? how.. wha... House of Blues?

Dave AKA Dave (dave225.3), Friday, 24 March 2006 13:05 (twenty years ago)

House of Blues? Really?

Dave AKA Dave (dave225.3), Friday, 24 March 2006 13:06 (twenty years ago)

I don't like that NY is at the end of the tour. See Ned's first post.

TRG (TRG), Friday, 24 March 2006 14:31 (twenty years ago)

i'll believe this tour when it actually happens

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 March 2006 14:46 (twenty years ago)

hmm, Stubb's is an interesting choice of venue.

patita (patita), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:18 (twenty years ago)

Last year (or maybe two, I dunno) they played at the Metro. I bought pre-sale tickets (NOT SURE WHY) only to find out that they just ended up GIVING TICKETS AWAY as hardly any were sold. I think there were 100 or so people there. Oh, Shesus was one of the openers. Good grief.

Fuck if I'll see them at HOB.

Derek's Erdman, Friday, 24 March 2006 16:31 (twenty years ago)

I almost went to that show - but it started after midnight or something, didn't it? That might have hurt attendance...

Dave AKA Dave (dave225.3), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:37 (twenty years ago)

no minneapolis, no credibility.

*sob*

damn Mark E, i was really hoping for a double Narnack labelmates Mpls show w/ the Fall and Vaz...that would've been dope as hell.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:39 (twenty years ago)

i'm depressed

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

hmmm, for any Colorado Fall fans (you know you're out there!), the show slated above for 5/26 at Bender's Tavern seems to actually be taking place at the Boulder Theater (in Boulder, naturally). Crazy--not a band I'd expect to be coming through this part of the world. Anyone know if the've got a US publicist--I think I'll pitch a story on them to my local alt-weekly...

Tyler W (tylerw), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:04 (twenty years ago)

They're playing Southpaw the night after Knitting Factory NY.

TRG (TRG), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 19:19 (twenty years ago)

The Anaheim show moved to the Glass House. Goody.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 01:51 (twenty years ago)

I'll be at the Dallas show.

Harpal (harpal), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 05:04 (twenty years ago)

hjfk, Tuesday, 11 April 2006 05:27 (twenty years ago)

I'm getting flown to Seattle (from Melbourne Australia) for work early May then taking a couple of weeks off - you fucking ripper! I never ever ever thought I'd get a change to see the Fall

badg (badg), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 06:03 (twenty years ago)

...And I've just read that the portland, seattle and Canadian dates were cancelled. Bummer

badg (badg), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 11:36 (twenty years ago)

five months pass...
I'm trying to buy tickets for The Fall's show at CMJ at the Hiro Ballroom... I've tried TicketWeb but there are no listings; anybody in New York know where I can buy them online?
