vs. espers

bb (bbrz), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

Mi or L'au (the dude) yelled at me from stage, so we're beefing. I thought they were okay though, but fuck get an acoustic guitar pickup so we can actually hear you frenchie.

I think I liked the Calla I heard.

I've never heard Akron/Family yet, but a bunch of friends of mine talk abt. them like they're jeebus. I wanna check out that Angels of Light split.

Mi or L'au (the dude) yelled at me from stage

they play ridiculously softly! blah! record's good tho.

i'll take akron/family first, windsor for the derby second. i'm not counting germano 'till i hear her new one.

the calla record on young god is the best thing they ever did and, judging by the records they've done since, the best thing they'll ever do. the espers record is great. I'm sure the lisa germano album will be brilliant.

I like that young god albums have consistent spinal typography, and that their website looks like that too, and it's all done in html with hardly any graphics.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:05 (twenty years ago)

Ulan Bator, by a mile! (Somehow I knew this was a Scott thread.)

xhuxk, Friday, 24 March 2006 19:08 (twenty years ago)

anyway espers aren't on young god, are they?

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:09 (twenty years ago)

I like Espers best (though I actually prefer their first record to the new one). I want to like Akron/Family, but they're maybe just a bit on the green side for me now. Maybe in a few years. (of course, I wonder if in a few years, Akron/Family will be Phish)

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:18 (twenty years ago)

nope...scott's point hit me about 2 minutes after i jokingly posted that....

i still havent heard the ulan records. can i just vote for the angles of light sing other people record...cause its still growing on me.

bb (bbrz), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:20 (twenty years ago)

i'm also confused about where espers figures in here?

that charlemagne palestine remix-thing is also good.

gira's own stuff >>>>>> everything else on young god

a spectator bird (a spectator bird), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Hahah, I love the idea of a Young God T/S. :-) Ulan Bator are great, yes. No Lisa Germano?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:30 (twenty years ago)

Oh wait, there it is. Sorry, Scott!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:32 (twenty years ago)

"gira's own stuff >>>>>> everything else on young god"

GOD HIMSELF WILL NOT BE JUDGED ON THIS THREAD. ONLY DEMI-GODS.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:36 (twenty years ago)

is flux information sciences still around?! i vote for them.

bell labs (bell_labs), Friday, 24 March 2006 20:08 (twenty years ago)

I kinda like that A/F still seem to be searching for a cohesive/consistent identity.

Still though, Phish?

KPH, Friday, 24 March 2006 20:28 (twenty years ago)

xpost: flux main-mang now in slayer-sampler act called "services"

Werner Herzog Books On Tape (sexyDancer), Friday, 24 March 2006 21:00 (twenty years ago)

I think Windsor for the Derby is a weird band to through in the mix. They are totally boring-synthpop-indie-rock-that-will-never-make-it-big-because-its-too-boring. I bought their cd with the pink cover and the dead bird having heard one free song online and it happened to be the only decent song on the whole album. do they fit in with the weird-america Akron/Family Mi & L'au shit?

Mickey (modestmickey), Saturday, 25 March 2006 09:30 (twenty years ago)

oh. these are all on the same record label. sorry, I've been drinking tonight.

I take sides with Akron/Family

Mickey (modestmickey), Saturday, 25 March 2006 09:31 (twenty years ago)

The Young Gods >>>> Young God Records (I think Ulan Bator are my favorite Young God band because they are easily the most Young Gods-like. Hence, more truth in advertsing!)

xhuxk, Saturday, 25 March 2006 14:14 (twenty years ago)

WINdsor for the derby.

emil.y (emil.y), Saturday, 25 March 2006 15:36 (twenty years ago)

A/F easily. They've got one great album, one great split, and one very good album as Angels of Light, and they're astonishing live.

JC-L (JC-L), Sunday, 26 March 2006 20:21 (twenty years ago)

The Young Gods >>>> Young God Records

Wait, what about "Young God" the song, the source of it all? Maybe we should have this be a Classic/Dud about Roli Mosimann.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 26 March 2006 20:23 (twenty years ago)

eighteen years pass...

Ulan Bator
