Can anyone give more info about this? I first saw and heard this when I created a Cluster radio on Pandora.com, it's similar to cluster 71 (duh), but more mellow, I think. Searched the archives, no luck. Recommendations? History?

Anyone? Some Tangerine Dream freak?

I don't hear too many similarities to cluster 71, much more Riley-ish unfolding arpeggiated minimalism than freakout psyche drone (though there's a little bit of that too). I like that their patterns are mostly handplayed, it keeps things human.

I have the first two and they're both fun, 'Like A Duck To Water' would be my pick to start and has great liner notes, though '1970-1973' is equally fun, and the clip of them on the Ohm: Gurus of Electronic Music DVD is great

Tangerine Dream were cool improvisers and everything but by the fourth disc of that Bootlegs Vol. 1 live box... they really would just leave that sequencer running as is

Cotton Candy Hammer had the Ash Ra Tempel Private Tapes box up for a while, and I love almost half of those half hour tracks for the same reason though, like it better than E2-E4, the sequencer changes just frequently enough to lose yourself in and his guitar lines are wonder woozy beautiful

the Mother Mallard stuff is much more composerly, straight minimalism, but with great synth textures, if you like this stuff also check out the David Rosenboom records like "How Much Better if Plymouth Rock Had Landed on the Pilgrims"

not really super into the Mother Mallard at this point ... seemed really tripped out and mysterious when I heard them on late night radio as a student back in like 1990 or so ... but I had never even heard things like Cluster et al then.. these days the MM records aren't my first choice but i'm glad I have them

Thanks a lot, will check it out. I don't think there is any brazilian store carrying their stuff, but I'll figure it out (I'm from Brazil)

I would order direct from Cuneiform/Wayside: http://cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/borden.html

and pick up some Heldon / Pinhas while you're there
