When I start my solo electro project, Mannergarten, I will not be from Germany.

wmlynch (wlynch), Thursday, 13 April 2006 16:19 (twenty years ago)

Männergarten? It doesn't exist as a word in the German language but you can make it up, the German vocabulary is always expandable by joining existing words together.

Zeitgeist what became the Reivers were from Austin, I believe.

John Erik Goodman (slugbuggy), Friday, 14 April 2006 11:54 (twenty years ago)

Also, there was a punk group called Angst. Also, I assumed this thing would show my login name and not the "Your Full Name" slot which I interpreted literally.

slugbuggy (slugbuggy), Friday, 14 April 2006 12:16 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, the Reivers (from Austin) released their first album as Zeitgeist but ran into trouble because someone else was using it.

patita (patita), Friday, 14 April 2006 13:33 (twenty years ago)

jonathon, Saturday, 15 April 2006 23:44 (twenty years ago)

I make songs, and put them under the name Thomas Mehlt. I am actually from Canada, and am not German.

Tokyo Ghost Stories (Tokyo Ghost Stories), Sunday, 16 April 2006 03:10 (twenty years ago)

Waldteufel, some kind of dark Odin loving drone-folk from somewhere in America. Surprisingly good actually...

Rombald, Sunday, 16 April 2006 13:09 (twenty years ago)

Die Romantik
Radio Berlin
Sorry About Dresden (although that title reflects an American perspective, I guess)...

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 00:14 (twenty years ago)

A Certain Ratio?

Roque Strew (RoqueStrew), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 03:18 (twenty years ago)

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 08:30 (twenty years ago)

>> Also, there was a punk group called Angst.

Yes. Angst = Fear

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but the whole point is it's used in English too

TS: Mick Ralphs vs. Ariel Bender (Dada), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 10:14 (twenty years ago)

As are Schtum and Zeitgeist

TS: Mick Ralphs vs. Ariel Bender (Dada), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 10:17 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that was my point, the word may be German in origin but if it's also an English word I figure it doesn't count.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 10:21 (twenty years ago)

Donner Und Blitzen

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 11:51 (twenty years ago)

That's Swedish. Or Norwegian.

TS: Mick Ralphs vs. Ariel Bender (Dada), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 12:05 (twenty years ago)

Ah, I did read the thread title as "German Sounding". But anyway...

husker du = "More Husker You" - according to Babelfish.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 12:11 (twenty years ago)

Messer für Frau Miller (Russia)

I don't think these guys qualify - it's their "export" name (and most of their audience abroad is in Germany). In Russia, they're Nozh Dlya Frau Muller.
