Elvis was a huge KLF fan. Ray Charles always wanted to work with Kanye but never got to. Some elderly bluesmen revere Moby as a Kali-like figure of death and rebirth.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Sunday, 16 April 2006 21:19 (twenty years ago)

Whenever I've put on a Spoon record, I've always been struck by its profound debt to Cat Power.
And everyone knows Carl Newman has been ripping off the Shins since his days with Zumpano, which released its first album two years before Flake Music, James Mercer's original band.
And listen closely to Daydream Nation. Even though it was released a year before the first Pavement single, and four years before Slanted and Enchanted, it was clearly influenced by the material it preceded.
I should of just ignored this thread.

"Elvis was a huge KLF fan."

Is that how they got him to sing on "The Chill Out?"

owen moorhead (i heart daniel miller), Monday, 17 April 2006 03:49 (twenty years ago)

Whenever I've put on a Spoon record, I've always been struck by its profound debt to Cat Power.

Wait, is that a serious comment? Other than the types of people who tend to be fans of both bands, I don't see the similarity.
