Seemingly the only listenable new adds on our local alt-rock radio stations. Flaming Lips win.

I pick the Pogues "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" (best video ever! why isn't it on youtube!)

(BTW, don't know if it was discussed on a Yeah Yeah Yeahs thread or not, but I enjoyed Miccio's Yeah Yeah Yeahs review in Baltimore City Paper.)

That has got to be my least favorite song on a flaming lips album with few standout tracks. Having heard "Golk Lion" only a couple times and not hating it. I'll have to go with The Karen O band

Lips-song is crappy, but Gold Lion is total crap. Ist alt-rock crap?

strom (strom), Friday, 21 April 2006 21:35 (twenty years ago)

"Gold Lion" sounds like Tegan and Sara playing "Cumbersome" by Seven Mary Three. Nein, danke.

Lotta Continua (Damian), Friday, 21 April 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

I think the Lips song works as good garbage. Seeing as how Radio Disney shuts out wacky surrealistic children's music, it's good that you can hear decent wacky surrealist children's music on alt-rock stations.

gold lion sounds like love and rockets so i like it.

aggro tegan and sara vs. sloppy styx

"gold lion" by a mile.

When I first heard it I thought "Gold Lion" was the new Siouxsie Sioux single. When I first heard "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song," I never wanted to hear it again.

"Gold Lion" sounds like Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Not that that's a bad thing.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Friday, 21 April 2006 23:47 (twenty years ago)

the lips song is awful. smug and clumbsy.

derrick (derrick), Saturday, 22 April 2006 04:52 (twenty years ago)

the flaming lips are never smug!?

Mick Jagger delivers the greatest yeahs of all-time!

"I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head."
