i don't give a fuck about mobb deep (flying in the face of my love for every other boring qb rapper-- but they're just different) but i love the g-unit combination, the contrast of prodigy, tattooed little girl arms in his spaghetti strap wifebeater, mean narrow rat face with his flat grey voice, saying all kinds of unbelievable shit, famous for getting his chain jacked in his own neighborhood, tru life launching a career off running up in their studio-- with the untouchable bulletproof g-unit empire, billionaire superhero special team of rappers and flawless in every aspect. i love p in the giant outta control party scene, sitting beside the girl whipping her hair in the silver lame dress and looking for his future babymamas. i drove around all day listening to leaked burnt cd-r blood money, this track on not-automatic repeat, flicking the remote every time it rolled over to the sorta okay mary j. blige song that uses the same beat as tick tock from the alchemist cd (i love p on that track, "my hammer was a one shot deuce-deuce / had my pockets full of bullets, i was real loose." his verse on the new one is about falling in love), standing around eating a barbecued crunchy on the outside creamy in the middle hot dog while it hits in the trunk while getting the car washed at a side-of-a-church charity carwash/bbq, cute lil 15 year old miniature mandy moore chicks with pink elastics on their braces working by the ice cream pailful, paying with the 20 dollar bill i got in an easter card from my mom, letting them thank me very sincerely in grownup voices, "thank you VERY MUCH. it's very appreciated." classic for that fucked up poorly chopped alchemist beat, sounds doubled, makes everyone sound offbeat. 50 on the hook. funny murderous lines all through it, FIENIN FOR PEOPLE TO BE SCHEMIN
IF THEY CHOOSE TO FRONT ON ME
THEN THEY LEAVE ME NO CHOICE BUT TO START SQUEEZIN
AND HOPE THEY STOP BREATHIN
CAUSE IF THEY DO PULL THRU
IN THE HOSPITAL BEDS THEY BE SQUEALIN
TALKIN TO THE DS, MAN
THEY DON'T WASTE NO TIME EVEN IF YOU STILL BLEEDIN
g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-unit

"pearly gates" made me feel good at 4 AM walking home from a night of alienating bullshit, so uh, there. the new album aint bad.

yeah that's one of my favorite tracks. i love those casual as fuck, tossed off 50 verses you get on features. around the same time krs was writin black cop / i was busy tryna pump crack in the back blocks / poppin shit to my homies about how my gat pop / got rid of that chrome thing and got a black glock / p90 held ten but i had six shots / i used to walk around with it and risk gettin knocked / i bought a fresh box of bullets from old man sam / wanted to shoot a nigga so bad it was itchin my hand. now, unless you heard 50 do it, you're gonna imagine, like, nas doing it on some illmatic outtake piano loop subdued boom bap type of beat, all wise beyond his years and sad as fuck, follow it with a line about mental slavehouse where gats let off by showoffs. but it's actually some hate it or love it breezy nostalgic 50 rap.

the havoc and p verses totally belong on that piano loop beat, though. "the dogs bark when i walk by and sense the souls i took / moms pray for me with her right hand on the good book." woah.

i just noticed that p's verse on pearly gates is censored but the FUCK and SHITS aren't, just the blasphemous stuff

now homie if i go to hell and you make it to the pearly gates
tell the boss man we got beef
and tell his only son i'm a see him when i see him
and when i see him, i'm a beat him like a movie
for leavin us out to dry in straight poverty
for not showin us no signs they watchin over us
look, we a new breed in 2006
we don't give a fuck about that religious bullshit
nigga, show me where the cash at
the nice whips with the three car garage to fit them shits
man, my life is painful, pray to angels
i'm prayin to myself hopin i ain't gotta spank you, my bullets shank you
and when my guns start cuttin, ain't nobody gon save you
in the bible times they ain't had to deal with the shit we deal with these survival times

that's weird. but I thought it was "beat him like the movie," as in Passion Of The Christ, not "a movie". I love that whole verse, though.
