Apparently the album was never officially released at the time of its completion, but was it bootlegged or otherwise made available? I imagine those who know will roll their eyes, but seriously, help.

Flying Steve Knutson, to the rescue!

I didn't even know they actually completed a record, and here I am considering myself a relatively long-time Russell obsessive. For shame.

from wikipedia:
He formed a band from 1975–1979, The Flying Hearts, recorded by John Hammond, which consisted of Russell (keyboards, vocals), ex-Modern Lovers member Ernie Brooks (bass, vocals), Larry Saltzman (guitar), and David Van Tieghem (drums, vocals), with a later incarnation in the 1980s that included Joyce Bowden (vocals) and Jesse Chamberlin (drums).

I say stop releasing Arthur Russell tapes so beautifully and thoughtfully and just allow us to have every little scrap.

Half of me believes this stridently though the other half of me believes the exact opposite with equal vigour. I don't know how I find the time, really.

I know, right?, Sunday, 29 June 2008 11:47 (seventeen years ago)
