Mike Watt = Joe Besser
Steve MacKay = Emil Sitka

Mike Dixn (Mike Dixon), Saturday, 29 April 2006 01:06 (twenty years ago)

Nooooooooo! Joe Besser taught speech/drama (at a college I would rather not name) in the 70s. I think he was a "visiting professor" while he appeared in theater productions in that town."Professer Joe Besser"! It practically trips off the tongue. Gah! What a pompous ass!

He was probably about 70 and was tempermental and bilious. Mike Watt should in no way be compared to Joe "Jillson" Besser.

Joe "Mama" Besser?

Hmmmm. I can't decide on whether Iggy is closer to Curly or Moe.

xgurggleglgllg (xgurggleglgllg), Sunday, 30 April 2006 02:55 (twenty years ago)

iggy is the kinetic goofball that everyone in the entire world can name. hence curly…

whereas Ron is the brass-tacks, get-it-done, no nonsense guy…

veronica moser (veronica moser), Sunday, 30 April 2006 04:57 (twenty years ago)

True. But the violence just seemed more like a Moe thing to me. Plus Curly never seemed too smart to me.

what about Schroeder? is he Doug Yule? would Lucy = Rachel?

veronica moser (veronica moser), Sunday, 30 April 2006 12:13 (twenty years ago)

Schroeder = Doug, yes.

Lucy = Valerie Solanas

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 30 April 2006 15:50 (twenty years ago)

DOUG = SHERMY

i am not a nugget (stevie), Sunday, 30 April 2006 17:06 (twenty years ago)

I was about to OTM you, but then I realized Angus MacLise is Shermy.

O-Keigh (O-Keigh), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:16 (twenty years ago)

Upon further reflection, Doug is probably Rerun. So who the hell is Schroeder?

O-Keigh (O-Keigh), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:21 (twenty years ago)

wouldn't Angus Maclise = Pigpen

veronica moser (veronica moser), Sunday, 30 April 2006 19:23 (twenty years ago)

Well, I figure Shermy was a key player before Peanuts made it big, but is never thought of as a member of the classic line-up. Ditto Angus. I'll concede that Pigpen is probably the member of the Peanuts gang most likely to die of tuberculosis.

O-Keigh (O-Keigh), Sunday, 30 April 2006 19:38 (twenty years ago)

then who is peppermint patty?

veronica moser (veronica moser), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 02:12 (twenty years ago)

you gotta jump forward a few years: PEPPERMINT PATTI SMITH

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 03:25 (twenty years ago)

and Peppermint Patty didn't join for a few years into the strip, so . . .
