Anyone remember them? Early eighties band. Reminiscent of Japan and Cabaret Voltaire in places.

yeah "Love Shadow" has a great bassline, but I don't like the vocals.

They had a funny, Danish-style line through the 'o' to give them that oh-so-1981 'vee are European' (to be said in Ralf and Florian voice) vibe. Cf John Foxx, Classix Nouveaux et al. Unfortunately they weren't very good.

John Foxx is though. Metamatic is terrific.

saw them in a Cornish pub in 1979. They were shite. Lots of umlauts (though strangely they did pre-date Bowie's 'fashion')

I don't like the vocals on "Love Shadow" either! I bought Fashion's compilation "The Height of Fashion" on Cherry Red and the stand-out tracks are definitely the opening "Move On" and the third track "Streetplayer Mechanik". One odd thing about the comp. is that it only covers the Arista years and not their later time on Epic. I defer to those with greater knowledge of record labels who might tell me that these are imprints of the same, larger, company. Assuming this is not the case, then Cherry Red might not have obtained permission to use the Epic tracks, or it might be that the later Epic tracks (e.g. "Eye Talk") were considered poorer and so not included.

Yes indeed. I saw them @ Bookies Club 870 in Detroit. Very odd looking bunch...I recall one guy being enormously tall and rather Lurch looking, one being extremely short and I couldn't tell about the drummer as he was sitting. I have three LPs by them which I'd have to dig out and re-spin in order to say anything semi-intelligent about , but I'm betting they sound quite dated. As I recall, they started out artsypunk and then coppped that slick polish which reminds me of watered down Dead or Alive - you know, that Zeus B Held sound. "Eye Talk".Or something. I liked the earlier material better. Odd vocals. -jeff

love this discogs review of fabrique

Decadent techno-funk just made for cruising the slick, night streets of Berlin at 4:00 AM in your DeLorean. If cocaine were music, this album would be the result. The band declared that this album was designed as accompaniment for "screwing and taking drugs" and I wouldn't dispute that. The slink factor here is off the map.
