Saw this song on MTV2 about a month ago - wow! Haven't been this impressed by a new song in ages. What do you lot reckon? Does anyone know if it's been released yet? I can't find it in any shots.

The New Flesh album came out earlier this year. John Kennedy on Xfm has been a big supporter of New Flesh in 2002. I am by no means an expert on contemporary hip hop/ rap fan as a whole, but New Flesh do have a different vibe, with those distorted cyber vocals and a twisted psychedelic textured production.

I think the single 'Stick n Move' on Big Dad was released 25th Feb.

Big Dada, yes. It's the best track on the album Understanding. Another couple of good ones on there are Communicate (with Gift Of Gab from Blackalicious) and More Fire (very ragga).

does this mean they gave up their brief, horrible flirtation with 2-step?

They used to be New Flesh For Old, didn't they, from York? (assuming they are the same group ...)

Saw this on MTV Base (was it really on MTV2? Thought that only played rock / metal) and I think it's a brilliant single. First time they've mastered the art of The Hook, but in its own way as obtuse as anything they've done before.

MTV2's view of alternative music is generally everything from Nirvana to the Foo Fighters, yes, but I saw the vid on a show called 2Elclectic which regularly shows vids by Autechre, Four Tet and others. Only good bit of music telly as far as I know.

Excellent track. Have no idea if it's released on single (yet), but the album ihas been out for a while now. Not as strong as this song promises it to be - it goes a bit Genaside II & Galliano, ie a bit typical Jazzy British Hiphop, at places - but it's pretty good. I still think the Roots Manuva album is much better though...

I've yet to find someone else that prefers, even likes their first LP, Equilibrium, but I tort it was a classic... it's a pretty dubious accolade to have a classic UK hiphop LP but this one was a totally distinctive British take on US disstopian futurism, and just dripped with atmosphere. Their new one is much more enjoyable singles-wise but it's kinda unsatisfying as a complete album. It's pretty disposable.

Arcade Terra was excellent though, pretty much the precis of what the whole LP wants to sound like.

equilibrium was definitely on point... amazing stuff, even of toastie's "1,000 different voices" thing gets a bit silly after a while (about 500 of them sound like him imitating part 2, for some reason) and the production is amazing. after "blackwholestyles" made me aware that there was hip-hop worth listening to in the UK, "equilibrium" and "brand new second hand" (by rootsmanuva) both smacked my ass up. the good stuff from the UK seems terribly overlooked at this point.
