After being advised to listen to the Bellrays I did. It rocked!

Am I excited by quality or novelty?

Are they good, as in, kind of fun? I have friends coming to stay in early Aprilwanting to see 'a good live band' and Bellrays are playing N London then -- do they , exc0XXoR mee, um rock y'know whatever that means... Poptones needn't be baaaad monkey karma

They've been stalwarts over here in the LA area for years. It's one of those simple-but-worthy combinations of styles that works.

Much better live than on their records. The lead singer fronts a side project called The Now Time Delegation too - more r&B-influenced than the Bellrays & better, I think. Great LP on In The Red last year.

They R-O-C-K live; their records come nowhere near, but give a general sense of what they're trying to do. The Now Time Delegation's album has some good stuff and one screamingly great song, "Layin' on the Ground."

The BellRays are playing in Europe soon. London on February 10th at the Astoria.

I got the Grand Fury LP after seeing them live, and I think its great. Tina Turner fronting MC5??? been said before I'm sure but what a fuckin great combo. Go see them if you get a chance. I was shocked they came up here to the frozen North (Saskatoon)

Would Ned recomend an album for North American types interested, seeing as that Poptones record (Meet The Bellrays I think) was going for almost 40 bucks as an import at the evil HMV. I blame CTCL for my interest.

_Meet The..._ is just a comp of highlights from the main 2 US LPs anyway. Get _Let It Blast_.

or buy the Poptones CD from amazon.co.uk for 7 pounds

plus shipping and possibly customs it comes out too what I probably got it for.
I did managed to find Meet The Bellrays for a reasonable price and am enjoying it.

four years pass...

They're still out there, still doing it: Just saw them in a windswept small town square in Finland at the weekend. Played to a crowd of a couple of hundred, and worked them like a stadium. Presumably still in Europe, and certainly worthy of your support.
