Minus / Trapez labels - S&D

Inspired by the The Knife interview on Pitchfork, and since we don't seem to have as many S&Ds as we used to, please help me seperate the wheat from the chaff here. I'm very aware of the Richie Hawtin stuff, namely the awesome Concept 1 stuff, and have a few things, like the Actual Jakshun 12" and some Stewart Walden stuff, but I'm pretty much in the dark about a lot of this. What's the stuff that sounds most like Brinkmann's "name" 12"s? What else is good?

eleven months pass...

Well anyway, as for Minus, I'm listening to the Nothing Much comp -- more functional than revelatory but it's not bad.

Ronan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

Hahahaha. Man, there's a vision. Wouldn't I have to get rid of my glasses too?

Ambivalent's "R U OK" is one of the better novelty tracks I've heard in a while.

haha I think m_nus are pretty much all about "functional"!

looks good actually but then I'm a lazy dog & like labels that bother to put out "greatest hits" comps :)

min2MAX is SO fucking boring though... I keep meaning to sell it on.

I get Traum & Trapez confused....

fandango, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Trapez is a Traum sub-label is why. That and they also have quite a bit of cross-over with the same artists. But if it means anything, Trapez is more Alex Under style, whereas Traum is more Eulberg/Minilogue style.

I mean, in terms of the sorts of sounds coming from the two, those are the best examples.

man i really love marco carola's new record. it's fun and bouncy and kinda dumb but i reckon it's the best thing m_nus has put out for a while

Listened to Triple R's Selection 4 mix on the way home for Thanksgiving and it is killer. 2005 was easily one of Trapez's best years.

It's funny--I never associated these two labels with each other, but Selection 4 does remind me of Richie Hawtin's set at DEMF this year now that I think about it.
