just heard zartbitter and i'm amazed. who else is doing this shuffle beat this well, and whats the story behind shitkatapult?

arc, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the master of the shuffle / glam beat is kompakt's wassermann aka mike ink.

shitkatapult rules!

stirmonster, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one year passes...
Revive. Two of my fave tracks this year so far are remixes by this guy. Who the hell is he?!

flightsatdusk (flightsatdusk), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 03:42 (twenty-three years ago)

new album coming out soon i think...

ambrose (ambrose), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 09:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Raumschmiere runs Berlin based ShitKatapult (which is currently God's favorite label, according to a Jockey Slut interview), he signed an album to Hefty last year and, for me, is the future of live IDM. Last time I saw him play he took everything out of the desk onto effects boxes, then jumped on the decks with them and... j-j-jj-just rippped it up. Even my friends with zero-tolerance outside of breakbeats were impressed. He was also spotted running around in the street with a lighter on full screaming Breakin-the-laaaw!! Breakin-the-laaw!! Stepping out with Miss Kittin, running a label that's making ground in the US and delivering THOSE remixes, truely, a star.

hot stuff. i was addicted the "the great rock n roll swindle" for a while...

j breitling (BlastsofStatic), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 11:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Saw him a couple years ago in Chicago and he was fanfuckingtastic. Esp. the one shuffle-y song on the "Musick" 12".

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Can we do a S&D? My noms are the remixes of "Ich Wei Warum" and "3 Hours" (thank you, as usual, gabba.net), but would be curious to know what else is worth hearing.

flightsatdusk (flightsatdusk), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:41 (twenty-three years ago)

new 12" on novamute - monstertruckdriver. 100% schuffleglam madness.

stirmonster, Thursday, 29 May 2003 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

holy crap! just downloaded monstertruckdriver, and it might be the best of 'em all. thanks for the heads up.

flightsatdusk (flightsatdusk), Thursday, 29 May 2003 21:19 (twenty-three years ago)

two months pass...
why has nobody been talking about Radio Blackout (except nabisco!) (I can't find the whole thing on slsk yet)

etc, Thursday, 28 August 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

really want to hear it, the monstertruckdriver single with the game is not over on it was fucking cool.

t-rex techno!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 28 August 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm baffled: this country's biggest radio station is currently pushing "Monstertruckdriver" as single of the week, after apparently being inundated with requests. If this continues, it has to be the most unlikely chart success ever.

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 20 October 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I am moving.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 20 October 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the 12" but I've been a bit underwhelmed with Radio Blackout as a whole. I think I was hoping for an album absolutely full of variations on his most slamming shit, where he lives up to his talk of injecting punk into it and all that. But maybe I should forget what he said and just listen.

Also, anyone seen him live recently? Should I get to Chicago (closest for me) and see him in November?

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Monday, 20 October 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i listened to radio blackout, and i thought it was crappy. like glam rock is shit, so wtf? why would you want to make a sort an album that tried to replicate the sound on machines? why synthesise noises to sound like those chugging guitars? why why why?

thats personal btw. that is obviously not an objective criticism, but it is my frustration at waiting for ages to hear this, afetr all the hype on ilx, and then finding that i thought it was totally boring and lame to me.

especially as i have been listening to hardfloor all of today. i mean, that shit 'rocks'. not marco haas. i mean, going out with miss kitten??????? go work for sleazenation already! fuck that shit!

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 20 October 2003 22:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Radio Blackout... and Marco's a very nice guy to boot.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 20 October 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm also not really impressed by the album - after "Zartbitter" I expected something better.

BTW, anyone heard Tomcrafts remix of Dave Gahan "Bottle Living"? Total shuffletech madness. The mainstream breakthrough of this stuff is only weeks away, I tell you!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The Bug remix of the newie 'Raubendisko' is fucking madness.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought that was a bit boring too. how was it different to other bug stuff? i couldnt hear much difference.

i guess i just dont get this shuffletech thing at all. i mean, i just find it really crap. is anyone else feeling the same way? to me, glam rock sucked the first time round. why repeat it. the beat is so unsexy, so undanceable and just a leaden stomp, one that i find moire depressing than any other rhythm or beat. i'd rather go to imsomniacz and listen to fergie for 4 hrs, frankly. why the love, people?

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The closest I've gotten to the Bug was standing next to him in Rough Trade waiting for him to get off the turntable. The music I haff no eyedeeaa.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Just heard "Blitzkrieg Pop," it's not as NIN/industrial as "Sick Like Me" suggested. I didn't realize those were Marco's actual vocals on the track though!

Anyway, "All Systems Go" is the shuffle sequel to "Monstertruckdriver," and there are 3 poppy female vocal tracks. The Ellen Allien one is definitely a flashblack to Berlinette.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 27 June 2005 01:22 (twenty years ago)

Need to hear it more but a lot of it sounded almost like a 90s alternarock/grunge homage to me, but not in a good way.

Mark (MarkR), Monday, 27 June 2005 01:57 (twenty years ago)

hmmmm

*cough* YSI thread precictable response etc.

Anyway, "All Systems Go" is the shuffle sequel to "Monstertruckdriver" This sounds good.

It ain't that good.

Better than the a-side though (of "Blitzkreig Pop" 7") which is terrible.

fandango (fandango), Friday, 2 September 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)

It's not really a good album, but I think I like it like a car crash of junk food. This probably doesn't make sense.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 2 September 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

I can't understand why must he sing?

zeus, Saturday, 17 September 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

is it really that bad ? i liked the last album - or is this swells up to his usual tricks ..

mark e (mark e), Monday, 19 September 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Dude is this worth going to? Anyone going? Nyc

Jon w, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

Well, not THAT bad. There are 3 weak songs, the remaining songs are OK, but nothing special.

zeus, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

Swells is a funny guy, but he has no interest in music whatsoever. (Akshully, he doesn't seem to be that funny any more.) I haven't heard Blitzkrieg Pop yet, but I would pay no mind to that review. Swells is pretty much the Gary Bushell who kept his SWP membership.

Yeah, Swells is still funny in some articles, but he shouldn't write album reviews anymore.

zeus, Wednesday, 21 September 2005 07:47 (twenty years ago)

I really wish that Raumschmiere would get over his punk fetish and make a whole album of stuff like his 2Raumwohnung remix.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 09:02 (twenty years ago)

miss amp's review in plan b is so much funnier and better than swells'. "some boys just don't know when to fuck off".

i quite like the ellen allien track.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

Shaun Wright-Phillips has a membership scheme?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

I've been thinking the same about SWP.

zeus, Wednesday, 21 September 2005 13:12 (twenty years ago)

ahh, glad i ignored the grumpy old git @ PL. plumped up some hard earned on ebay and got the album promo, up to track 9 and totally loving it. yes it does drift into industrial styled noise that we have all heard before, but for me i like it. lots. this is exactly the album i needed to hear as my ears have been a little bored recently.

the ellen allien track is going to be my favourite - i just know it.

ok, so no i have found that i love B-Pop, and radio blackout, what about the pre-Mute releases ... are they different in style ?

mark e (mark e), Thursday, 22 September 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

best thing ever: "musick" 12" on kompakt.
