Curve's "Perish" & Kevin Shields

Recently on ILM, I've suggested that Kevin Shields is washed up. Two days ago, I heard "Perish" from Curve's album 'Gift' for the first time. Mr. Shields plays guitar on said BEAUTIFUL song. F*ck..., if it doesn't make me long for a new MBV album.

Anyway, 'Gift' is a stunning album! Why aren't more bands making music like this these days? Is it because the money's not there?

Long live Curve!

Other thoughts on Curve or the contribution from Mr. Shields.... ???

Just got that album a month or so m'self -- whole thing's surprisingly (to me) good -- but yes, the Shields bit makes me wish for the MBV album that's probably never going to come. At this point though the one in the collective imagination is probably better than anything K.S. might actually be able to make.

His cleverest move yet, if that's the case. ;-)

Try to track down a copy of Curve's _Open Day At The Hate Fest_, which is a odds and sods collection of web-released songs and various ephemera. I like it quite a bit more than _Gift_. KS makes several appearances on it, plus there's a terrific cover of Siouxsie's "Overground".

Yeah, it might be the best song they ever did, no joke.

Great Cthulhu, I'm glad that YouTube exists at moments like this.
