Fairport Covention's "Mr. Lacey." See Jeff Nuttall's BOMB CULTURE:A real artist of the 60s, he made machines do things to each other, though such body language not always acknowledged by reviewers (maybe they were playing along, like interviewers-as-straight-men to Warhol?). Think he may have contributed at least concepts or notions to the undulating robot-in-trouser-legs on clothesline, in vid of Herbie hanc=Hancock's "Rockit." Even better robot vid was the one in which an obscenely aged Lou Reed bot stuck a finger in its mouth and econstructed itself. That was the whole vid, but what was the *song*? Anybody remember?
